Should I be Catholic or Orthodox?

He’d better not be canonized. He was responsible for the deaths of millions of Ukrainian Greek Catholics, Orthodox, and pretty much anyone who disagreed with him.
Couldn’t agree more. The evil is palpable that emanates from him. He is responsible for the almost total annihilation of the Church in the USSR. If (God forbid) the ROC was to canonize him the faithful would revolt. I would have to seriously reconsider staying Orthodox, and most likely it would push me into the arms of Rome.

Agreed, wholeheartedly!
It is surprising that anyone would even think for a minute that it is even remotely possible a godless murderer could be canonized by any Christian church. I mean I understand folks have an understandably dim view of the Russian church, but the notion of canonizing Stalin is ludicrous.

a church in Russia even canonized Stalin!
Which church was that?
No church canonized Stalin. Please see earlier posts.

One could argue with conviction from both sides as being the “true” Church.

Are you concerned about being in the “right” Church, or are you drawn to the Orthodox theology and prayer life?

My own prayer life has moved away from Traditional Catholicism and towards Eastern Christianity as of late. So if you are drawn to that type of spirituality and expression of faith, the Eastern Catholic Church(es) may be an option for you.

Despite the EO polemics about all bishops being equal, if you look at how that synod was explicitly organized and carried out, the bishops who participated in that synod did not do so as equal bishops of one Church, but as representatives of multiple, distinct, national Churches and patriarchates
I like to bring up the Melkite church coming into communion with the pope of Rome as evidence of that. If it’s Bishop amongst equals, how can Constantinople say that what Antioch does is invalid?

I am a recent convert to Catholicism. I know nothing of Orthodoxy besides that it used to be one with Catholicism. How can I know I am in the right half of the split?
So were the Protestants (one with…)

If you agree with Catholic theology, but like the Eastern worship style more, be Eastern Catholic.
Same if Orthodox agrees with Orthodox theology but likes the Western Roman worship style more he can be Western Orthodox
