Should I go to a sleepover with guys and girls?

But is inherently not morally impermissible. I think that we are all agreed on in the case of, say, Catholics on a pilgrimage, for example. But that is not the OP’s situation, and probably not the situation that many people looking to organize/participate in sleepovers are facing.

It is one thing to suggest thinks to think about before making decisions, it is quite another to say that those same criteria eliminate broad classes of actions that do not involve sin inherently.

So, then, I can go on a sleepover with my atheist friends?

Beats me. Not my call…I know nothing of the said event.

But I would advise serious caution and deliberation.

After which it is possible that I correctly conclude that it is morally permissible for me to go?

Bookcat, why do you refuse to answer such a simple question?

Abortion is morally wrong. Any judgment of the conscience that leads to the conclusion that abortion is morally acceptable in any case reveals either an ill-formed conscience or a problem in the consulting of the conscience. Telling someone that they should consult their conscience about abortion is correct but misleading, because there is in fact only one correct decision: not to have an abortion.

Do you see in what way you are evading my question? I do not appreciate being dragged around by someone either incapable of engaging or refusing to do so, especially when they acknowledge neither.

So, let me rephrase:

By pointing out that in these cases one should consult one’s conscience, do you believe that one can be on morally sound ground going to a social co-ed sleepover with people who are not Catholic? That is all the information given, so the rest is up for debate. An answer of “I do not have enough info” suggests that there are indeed cases of social co-ed sleepover that are permissible, otherwise more information would not be required.

Simply asking the OP to consider her conscience and think about prudence, etc. is extremely problematic if you already believe that there is a correct answer and are withholding it.

I think I did answer.

Abortion is morally wrong. Yes Any judgment of the conscience that leads to the conclusion that abortion is morally acceptable in any case reveals either an ill-formed conscience or a problem in the consulting of the conscience. yes Telling someone that they should consult their conscience about abortion is correct but misleading, because there is in fact only one correct decision: not to have an abortion.I would not do so…I would tell them that it is an intrinsic evil…always and everywhere…

Do you see in what way you are evading my question? No not really…those who read my posts in this forum know that if something is intrinsically evil or something…I state it very clearly…I do not appreciate being dragged around by someone either incapable of engaging or refusing to do so, especially when they acknowledge neither. When I read my recent posts I think that I answered ??? So I am not intending to ‘drag you around’ it seems to me I answered.

No…I do not see it that way. Such is how you handle such…form ones conscience…seek to live according to virtue…perhaps seek counsel from ones confessor etc…If it was a case like “should I have an abortion?” the clear answer is no. But like I noted…there can be all kinds of events that can involve co-ed sleeping at the same facility-house. Retreats…pilgrimages…etc. Or it can be some worldly event that one judges one ought not get involved with etc etc …sorry if you felt I was “dragging you around”…It seemed to me I answered.

I am just curious on the final decision…
When is the sleepover, so that I know the outcome, whether my advice was right or wrong?

Fight the curiosity 🙂 It’s almost inevitable at this point that the OP will learn a lot from this, even if sin or indiscretion intervenes first (for which she can go to confession as needed). Anyways, why seek validation of your response?; she can tell you whatever she wants, and even if your advice proved right in a certain instance doesn’t mean that it will prove right in the majority of instances, so a “you were right” response may not even be helpful to you if it cements an erroneous line of thinking (I’m not saying you were wrong).

I know what you mean though - I fight the same morbid curiosity (based on hoping to have my pride boosted). I just need to remember that all things work out for the best when we walk with Christ. I hope I never find out in the sense that it will help me learn the same lesson. Peace!

STOP !!!

No morbid curiosity!
Plain curiosity. Is it bad? I have told an experience of mine when in pilgrimage we slept all together head in the legs of others. No problems. No sex. just tired bodies sleeping after 40 kms rides…
I thought is was a “HE”.
After all it is a “SHE”.
Now, new advice. A Danish Father sent her daughter off to go round the world and taught her the world “NO” in 50 languages.
