Perfection is the enemy of the good. šŸ™‚
Yeah - that’s the famous quote although I didnt know it at the time I phrased my clumsy version. Im a procrastinator and I really need to focus on action rather than ā€œanalysis paralysisā€.

I’m a Protestant, but am studying the Catholic Church and (gradually) becoming aware and accepting of her doctrines. I accept all her teaching on sin, penance and absolution, and know that I have committed serious mortal sin. What should I do? Can?should i go to confession. I would love to.
Hi Greg, and welcome to the forums! šŸ‘

A little off subject…did you know that Gregory I was one of the greatest popes in Catholic Church history? Think ā€œGregorian chantā€.

Anyhow, back on topic, the RCIA is where you need to go. No sacrament is available to you until you go through the process.

Exception…on your deathbed you can give confession and receive absolution if you profess your belief in Catholic faith.

FYI…the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a stepped process that guides and encourages, but does not insist. You can bow out at any time.

My prayers are with you,
Subrosa

Thanks for the replies. Subrosa, I know a little about Gregory the Great - quite a guy!

A lot of you have suggested RCIA classes. There seem to be a lot of these in the US but I’ve never come across many in Ireland. Perhaps it’s an Amercian thing. Not many people in Ireland convert, in either direction! It’s still a bit tribal.šŸ˜‰

Hi everyone. I’ve made contact with a priest. He was actually thinking of starting up an RCIA class. Can you believe it? It’ll be a while before it gets off the ground, but he’s working on it. Thanks for all the advice.šŸ‘

That is a great new!
At my parish, I believe they have RCIA year-round.

You can request to confess to any pastor/vicar although it will not be a formal confession in the same way that a catholic one iwll be.

I know i was in an anglican church where they had confession but you had to request it from the priest personally… they still bind themselves to keep secret anything you tell them - - this may be an option for you until you are received into the catholic church…

Take care, S

oh yeah…google roman catholic diocese and you get a map of the uk with the areas covered on…click on your area and it lists all the churches near you…click on those and you get all the info and it tells you where rcia is already in place.

[sign]yay![/sign]

And tell the priest that you can always bring your questions here to CAF. So if he wants to make sure you are getting a good catechesis, then he ought hurry up with his RCIA.

😃
