Sooooo…did you have fun??? Don’t keep us hanging
Yeah, I kinda agree. My husband enjoys the functions, but you are right–it can be a bit dull, because a lot of times, we are all just chatting about work…etc. Last night, I sat at the party thrower’s kitchen table, with a few other female coworkers and just yacked about girl stuff…it was really very different than Christmas parties past. Although, I miss those thrown by the office leader in PA–my dh misses those too. He got to know everyone over the years, so he wasn’t too bored at those.I’m in 3 or 4 of groups where we party together, sans spouses (a drama group, a couple of different arts groups). To bring a spouse who knows nothing about the group dynamics or isn’t even interested in what the group is about is pretty much a downer for the member and boring for the spouse. Recently DH got involved with one of these groups so now he will at least attend those parties with me.
Personally I would rather never have to go to his office parties (the Christmas one is coming up next Saturday). They’re boring and I always feel like we should pay someone to be our friends at those functions. Everyone seems to be much younger than we are and intent more on drinking than anything else.
No, not at our church, it’s the town’s adult amateur group. I’ve acted in a few productions, “Sisters” “Les Liaisons Dangereuses”, “Jake’s Women”, directed 2 “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg” & “The Parallax Garden” but now I’m usually stage manager or techie. I do whatever they need me to do to be involved.Yeah, I kinda agree. That’s neat that you are part of a drama group, Phemie–is this at your church??
That sounds really interesting…I wish you luck with that! No, not at our church, it’s the town’s adult amateur group. have u thought of doing this as a career? or do you do anything like this in your career, currently?Thank you. I think our next production might be the musical 'Kiss Me Kate" – at least that’s what the woman who would direct it is thinking about. I’m reading a play too with thoughts of producing it later in the spring.

This is too funny – I’m the parish secretary.
