yesterday, out of nowhere my boss at work mentioned to me that she is planning to to do ivf in the future. apparently, it has been difficult for her and her husband to conceive. She then asked me if I knew that ivf could result in twins more easily which I indicated that I was aware of that. She then went on excitedly about how she would want twins. at that point, another team leader came over and needed to talk to her, so we never finished the conversation.
now, I know that this is a very serious moral issue. my obss knows that I am catholic since we talked about my world youth days experiences. She has also mentioned that she is from an irish family and is also catholic, but I really get the impression that she is not really in to the faith that much, just beased on the things she says and the expressions she uses.
our relationship is fairly solid from our interactions over the last few months and she tends to open up to me a lot, so there is a chance she might bring it up again. if she does, should I say something? however, I do know that she does tend to get upset and defensive easily, so even if I did, it’s not very likely to do any good. but it doesn’t really sit well not to say anything at all either.
it’s realy complicated. she used to sound a bit scornful about being catholic, until I said I was as well, then she seemed to act a bit more positively about it, so I don’t know what God wants me to do in this situation. I know we should always be a good influence and set good examples, but I obviously don’t have authority over her, quite the opposite, and I wouldn’t say we are in the territory of close friends either. any ideas?
