To those on this forum that wish this thread would just go away I ask: Have you spent any time and study on the problem of sexual abuse in the Catholic clergy? Have you actually investigated what went on in dioceses that transferred sexual predators from parish to parish?
Ah, a question that I can address. I’ve spent over 6 years studying the sexual abuse by Catholic clergymen. I have become sick in heart & soul reading some of the material I’ve read. Following is an excerpt from the statement made by Craig Martin…a victim who spoke at the 2,002 Bishop’s Conference. It is sad indeed:
"While society has no trouble envisioning the violent molester and the child who is forced to submit to a sexual predator, many people are baffled by how adult seducers are able to get [kids] to go along with them voluntarily. These men seduce children, in this case boys
, in exactly the same way that men and women have been seducing each other since the dawn of mankind. In other words, they flirt with them, laugh at their jokes, and shower them with attention, with gifts, with affection. They size up their weaknesses, their vulnerabilities, their needs. They will target the kids who are more vulnerable."
The most amazing part of when I allowed John to talk about his abuser was how this man offered kindness and love; how this man became John’s best friend. John showed very little anger toward his abuser. I was amazed at who John directed his sorrow to. He directed his sorrow not at his abuser, but at his parents. John tells a story of how his abuser wants to take John fishing. The abuser asks John’s parents if it is OK. John’s parents thought it was a great idea for John to go on a fishing trip with this Catholic priest. John talks of how his relationship with his parents changed, how he no longer trusted them. He feels he is alone.

I used the computer to investigate the different diocese & their leaders through the years. I went clear back to Cardinal Bernardin & his “boys club”. Then a horrible thing happened, I accidentally followed a link to an email loop, called “St. Sebastian’s Website”…the place for gay priests to send messages to each other. I think that it has been pulled from the web, at least I hope so. It was post after post filled with male pornograpy pictures, & horrid messages about sexually abusing boys.
Following that, I had to stop for a while, as it upset me so.
When I was able to resume, I started looking up the Seminaries that the major offenders had attended.
I read the WHOLE 1985 Peterson/Mouton report (Peterson was the priest who ran St. Luke’s hospital & died of AIDS in the 80’s. Mouton was the lawyer who handled the Gilbert Gauthe case). There was a token mention of the pain of the victims, but it was mainly telling the Bishops that they had found Pederasty to be uncurable, the perpetrators felt no remorse, believed that these “relationships” between adult men & pubescent & post-pubescent boys was "beneficial to the boys & men both " & warning the hierarchy that it would cost the Church Billions of dollars to pay off the lawsuits.
I examined justice dept. files on convicted child sexual abusers. I read books,
The Changing Face of the Priesthood,
Perversion of Power; Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church…**Leon Podles books:The Church Impotent: The Feminization of Christianity & Sacrilege: Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church ** Books written by Catholic haters & scholarly books that explained the situation & were trying to deal with it honestly. I have yet to read Michael Rose’s book Goodbye Good Men, but think I will be able to do so soon, because I see Pope Benedict XVI doing what needs to be done to stop this. And he is not afraid of the wolves who will attack him…both the media & the liberal hierarchy within his own Church.
Now, just in case you are interested after I’ve given some of my “credentials”…I will tell you the basic cause of the sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. THIS WAS ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY! I predicted that none of you here…criticizing the Pope… have the courage to even post about the “dark side of this sexual orientation”. My prediction is true, none of you have even mentioned it.
The media is guilty of a lot of abuse, but don’t be afraid to find out the truth for yourself.** Don’t write off everything as simply attacks from the liberal media/**

I do not. However, since the liberal media will not TOUCH the real cause behind this scandal…I now find them cowardly & that colors what they print.
The wonder of these past 6-10 years of my own investigation is this:
My own faith has been strengthened for I know that, though we were infiltrated by sexual abusers, the doctrine, the dogma the teachings of the Church are as true as they were 2,000 yrs. ago. Plus, I have seen the many, MANY clergymen in our faith who have fought with the devil to keep this horror from ever happening again. Pope Benedict is the main person doing this.
In the light of such teaching, this Dicastery, in accord with the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments,** believes it necessary to state clearly that the Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question[9], cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practise homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-**called “gay culture”[10].
