I have. And I know what it says on the matter. I am actually in the process on assessing my faith and considering a change in denomination

That sounds a lot like praying away free will.

Grace doesn’t disrespect free will, it strengthens it to choose the good. A weakened free will chooses evil out of evil habits. We pray for grace to overcome their evil inclinations.

There is always a choice, grace is like the opposite of devils temptations, saying sin, it’s okay, do that evil act. Grace says don’t do evil, do that good, be good! It is up to you who you will follow, the evil temptation or the good grace.

I would recommend studying up on grace and its nature.

I’ve studied it a lot and discussed out with multiple priests. In this context it is akin to wishing a person’s choice away, which is why I suggested knowing may be a better thing to pray for. You’ll notice the post didn’t actually mention Grace.

I pray often that other’s will is moved to love the good, and turn away from evil.

You can pray for a change of heart, and God can act in a way that respects free will. God can answer a persons’s prayer for change of heart and yet accomplish change of heart without resorting to forcing anything.

We pray for the conversion of people in Catholic prayers, isn’t that akin to changing their heart?

I’m always careful to respect will in my prayers, this is something I think about a lot. I pray for people to have the chance to know God. But what they make of that chance is their will.
