Well my friend, my wife graduated college, now our six children including one girl have graduated college, along the way my wife served on the Parish Council for three years, served on our local school board for seven yeras, during which time she was able to influence the form of sex ed that all the children were going to get regardless. She was able to teach at least seven or eight children who were having a great deal of trouble reading how to read well. Once the children were all in school, she spent one year working as a chemist and then 10 more years as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. In addition she has taught Sunday School(Catholic Version) for four or five years and coached at least two little league soccor teams. For over 45 years now she has been an interesting and stimulating wife who has been at my side during sickness( 3 surgeries and a major heart attack) and in health. She has regulated our finances and saw that the bills got paid on time since before we were married. Over the years she has become proficient at finishing dry wall, laying ceramic tile, painting both inside and out, as well as being able to do a professional level of furniture finishing and refinishing( I build cabinets and bookcases as a hobby and I me and the kids, the oldest at the time being 14, built a three stall garage and finished the older attached garage into a family room, bedroom, bath, and walk in closet. That was after completely finishing off our basement.) When we have gone fishing she caught the second largest bass of anyone in the family and won a canoe because of that feat, (My son caught the biggest which weighed 6.5 pounds which is a good bass for up North.) Now we did use Natural Family Planning to space our kids about two years apart, but the Catholic Church has no objections to that for spacing and limiting reproduction to fit a families ability to cope both psychologically and financially.
I informally adopted a young woman some years back who is now an ob/gyn doctor in family practice out west. Her Father who is a Feenyite radical traditional Catholic disowned her and her sisters because they put themselves through college. After finishing her medical education she married two years ago and is expecting her first child next month.
I don’t know where you got the notion that Catholics are irresponsible when it comes to limiting and spacing their children by appropriate means for appropriate reasons, but it would be a good idea for you to become better informed about the Catholic Faith and its teachings. Your question makes it sound like you really don’t know any good Catholic Christians particularly educated Catholic women.
I have a very close friend, he is like a brother to me, who is Lutheran. He had six kids too, but I suppose that was because he was a horny old billy goat as his church really did not demand that large family. When his first wife died, he married a woman who had five of her own and they bought a big old house to raise them all of the eleven in.
