Should the Pope "apologize"?

Absolutely not, as Truth warrants no apology, and as there was nothing uncharitable about Benedict XVI’s speech.

Regardless of what we’ve heard, the speech was NOT a direct cause of the violence. These people running around the streets firebombing churches, and gunning down innocent nuns have deep-cutting problems of a social, mental, and, yes, religious nature completely independent of anything the Holy Father did or didn’t say.

It’s as if they keep a watchful eye for an excuse to act out in violence. If a non-militant Muslim even sneezes the wrong way, then whoops! There’s another widespread series of burnt buildings, and human casualties.

Their problems are much too severe to have been caused by a speech by the leader of another religion in another country, much like they were much too severe to have been caused by a stupid cartoon in some newspaper in a foreign country.

An unwarranted apology will not cure their ailments, or magically make things better for them. It’s up to them to be receptive to the peace we gladly offer. But in offering peace and charity, it would be counterproductive for us to diminish the integrity of Truth.

If the Pope licks the boots of Islam after they’ve firebombed Chruches, murdered a nun, and who knows what else to Christians, I will leave the Church. That will be the final straw of the West being slaves to Muslims. It is something I really do not want to see. God is not with this Church if it bows to Islamic threats and starts kissing thier boots so they don’t hurt us…

What should he apologize for?..telling the truth: That Islam is the religion of violence, and that it seeks to kill anyone that will not convert? That Islamic countries kill and imprision Christians every day for doing nothing more than building churches and helping the citizens that their governments neglect?

No way the Pope should beck down. I take pride in the fact that the leader of my church had the guts to tell the truth about this religion of violence and hate.

Viva Benedict!!!

He didn’t apologize for what he said, he said he was sorry that Muslims misunderstood and went on a rampage of violence.

Of course the Pope shouldn’t apologize. My only problem with what he said was his silence on the Christian legacy of violence. He needed to make it clearer (though he did recognize this on the philosophical level) that Christians have often not lived up to the standard he’s setting forth–and furthermore that the difference between Muhammad’s earlier and later statements reflects a pattern common to just about everyone. People are more likely to advocate the use of violence if they are in a position to use violence effectively. After all, the Byzantine Emperor’s statements were made at a time when the Empire was on its last legs. Justinian had no problem promoting the Faith through violence.

Still, it’s true that the use of violence to advance the faith is more endemic to Islam than to Christianity, and the Pope’s speculations about the link between this and the Islamic emphasis on God’s transcendence were valid and should be refuted rationally (if they are wrong–I suspect they are on target).

The Pope did not apologize for what he said . He apologized that Muslims did not understand his words…As anyone can see, a couple of hours after he spoke, Muslims already targeted Churches. These people have hatred rooted in their book and traditions . Any single word makes them unleash their hatred. They are not satisfied with the Pope’s explanation, they want an apology only to undermine the Pope and the Church and to claim superiority. Truth hurts.
Al Qaeda threat :
“We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya,” said an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of al Qaeda, according to the Reuters news agency.
“We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen,” said the statement.
compare this to:

But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards; for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Well, you know that Religion of Peace…they are not happy unless the skies light up like the eyes of Allah and fire rains on the non-believers.

When you are brought up to kill, other aspects of your morality become somewhat suspect.

Jesus said, “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.”

Jesus said, “You will be hated by all men on account of my name; but the man who stands firm to the end will be saved. If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, take refuge in another.”

Jesus said, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Jesus said, “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours as well. But it will be on my account that they will do all this, because they do not know the one who sent me.”

**Jesus said :the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them." **

Jesus said, "I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but be brave: I have conquered the world."

We Christians know about persecution…we’ll always be persecuted until Jesus comes again and divides the good seeds from bad seeds.

Muslims won’t feel ok until they Islamize the worls while persecuting us. But we have faith in the One who conquered the World and we will stand for :the man who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Endless Jihad

The Truth about Islam and Violence

.Jihad

It was once a word unfamiliar to American ears. But in recent years it has become all too familiar. The actions of Muslim militants and terrorists have seared the word into American consciousness.

Yet even with thousands of innocent civilians killed on American soil by Islamic terrorists, the full significance of the Muslim concept of jihad has not been grasped by the American public.

In the days after September 11, 2001, American leaders rushed to portray Islam as a peaceful religion that had been “hijacked” by a fanatical band of terrorists. One hopes that these assurances were merely tactical—that nobody was meant to believe them and that they were meant to assure the Muslim world that the inevitable American reprisals were not directed at their religion as a whole.

If the world Muslim community perceived America as attacking Islam in general then the duty of every Muslim to fight for his religion—the duty of jihad—would have been invoked on a broad scale. The war against terrorism, instead of simmering with occasional flare-ups, like the Cold War, would have boiled over into a global conflagration, with the Muslim countries of the world—1.2 billion strong—mobilizing against America and the West.

Muslim apologists also rushed forward to assure the public that Islam was a peaceful religion. They disingenuously declared that the word Islam means “peace.” And they tried to portray the terrorists as a fringe group outside the mainstream of Islam.

they can do whatever they want…no surprise cuz Jesus warned us beforehand. We must hold our crosses till Jesus comes back again.( i feel it’s soon ) Only then will some people know who their Lord is 👍

Btw, i know we can’t know about the exact day of Jesus’ coming…but don’t you feel the signs He gave us are lived now?

Hmm… ‘religion of peace’? Seems like they’ve got lots of screws loose since to them ‘peace’ includes acts of violence.

Btw, look at any country where there are Muslims…you’ll find tension and killing…recently in Tailand…on the news we heard about bombs in Tailand…but before they say who did it, my mom asked me : are their Muslims in Tailand? barely has she finished her question that the man said they were Muslims .

Satan is EXTREMELY active these days. Wonder why…

Given the fact that the Muslim reaction was to underscore the Pope’s point…NO, he should not apologize!

I also think that the people who are reacting so strongly have egg on their face and clearly did not actually READ or HEAR what was said.

Violence in God’s name is completely contradictory to God and how he created us…and that was the point. Then a bunch of asinine (can I say that word?) Muslims go out and burn an Anglican church.

I could say more but I’ve said enough and I don’t want to move into uncharitable comments…
My sentiments exactly!!!

Not sure about that to tell the truth of it. But I hope you are right…I can’t wait!

Until then, we hold our cross and tell the truth to the world!

Cheers!

Deffinately not. Islam is not a peaceful religion and Muhammed and his followers did spread it through violence. This is a historical fact!

Good book on the subject: “The Politacally Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades” by Robert Spencer.

I posted this a few days ago, but I am going to do so again. Here is a site that is dedicated to Christian persecution all over the world. Take a look if you get a chance. I emailed the owner of the site a while back, and he tries to keep it pretty non-denominational. Still, the message will give you some insite into what the Religion of Peace is doing to our fellow Christians…

Of course. If anyone was offended by what Our Holy Father said, then the Christian thing to do is apologize for creating that offence. It does not alter the content of what Pope Benedict XVI said; it only asks for forgiveness for hurt feelings. We often get mad at hearing the truth (the truth hurts sometimes). But the truth sets you free. The radicals are reacting radically-but I bet there are people who are listening-wise people.

During WWII the Nazi’s were out to distroy Christianity-another name for terrorism.

"Oh, if only charity rather than animosity could overcome them! We for our part love, cling to and defend the Catholic Church, not on the strength of human arguments, but of divine testimonies; and we are inviting its enemies to be reconciled with it and enter its peace. What am I to do with someone who pleads for a part and brings an action against the whole? Isn’t it good for him to lose the case, because if he loses he will hold onto the whole, while if he wins, he will be left with the part – or rather if he appears to win, because it’s only truth that ever wins. **The victory of truth is charity. ** "
– St Augustine, AD358 in Carthage preaching against the Donatist

I’m shocked that no one has voted that the Pope should unconditionally apologize.

We have a lot of Muslims in this forum. I would have thought that someone would be here to represent the Fundalmentalists.
