Should the West reject Islam as a religion?

As you know, Islam is BOTH a religious faith AND political doctrine.

Yes, and that political doctrine is absolutly not what a democratic, pluralistic, and free society could use.
I very much value the concept of religious freedom that everybody may worship and believe in any diety he wants, incl. none at all, but Islam is for its political statements way too dangerous to just let it pass.
Therefore, yes, the West should reject it. Not by keeping people away from believing or worshipping Allah but by drawing a line where they have to stop with their crude and anachronistic ideas about their society (ie. the Umma), how to implement it (by suicide bombers e.g.), and hot to enforce it (by Sharia).

How would you like it if someone told you that your religion was a political powerhouse and that everyone should not accept it at all and stop believeing.

What good does it do anyone to believe in something if it’s false?

She has nothing to be ashamed of! Her concerns are legitimate, but even if they weren’t, we still believe in freedom of speech in this country!

Here is a question, and perhaps some of the attorneys on here can answer it. If a group of Muslims in the United States advocates the overthrow of the US government to replace it with Islamic laws, would it be protected speach? What if they encouraged the replacement of the Constitution?

And the fact that they would claim it as religious would not matter. That has long since been established. Assuming that this did occure, I see even more tension between the West and Islam.

There are already restrictions on free speech.

For example, a person can say, in a heated debate, that they wish someone were dead.

However! If they make a statement directed specifically at the President of the United States, that is a special circumstance. Such speech is not permitted and the person can (and people have been) prosecuted and imprisoned for “making threats” against the life of the President.
