Should There Be an Inquisition for the Pope?

When did printing lies, and spewing insults…and opinion…become journalism? Didn’t the NYT almost go bankrupt last year, or the year prior? And it was largely because people were tired of their rantings and blantant bias against Bush. If the mainstream wants to post an article about the Pope and the prior abuses by clergy, print only the facts of the situation. This is pure venom with a clear agenda, disguised as journalism. Have to keep praying. 😦

The media has a lot to answer for. . .

Back in the old days, journalists were expected to provide facts/information, and one’s ‘personal opinion’ was to remain ‘outside’.

Now it seems in many ways that this has been completely reversed. Instead, each journalist takes his/her ‘personal opinion’ on a subject and puts it forth, with any facts or information ruthlessly cropped or ignored if they don’t ‘fit’ the opinion, or ‘steroid-enhanced’ into Holy Writ-status if they DO fit.

Furthermore, the misuse of language itself is appalling. Words are ‘coined’ and then completely replace other words (the original words mostly being more nuanced and better able to give a rounded and clearer picture), sentences are either chopped or turned into hazy MUSH, and many writers’ careers seem to have sprung from their ability to use ambiguity in their work such that they seem to say completely different things to completely different groups of people.

And don’t even start me on the issue of civil discourse. Unless you lock-step subjugate yourself and bow down before the words of another, you are ‘disrespecting’ him or her. Offensive intolerance is the hallmark of the supposed ‘educated’ person today. . .

This is all classic Maureen Dowd - a venom-spewing should-be-Catholic if ever there was one.

To clarify, however; she is an “op-ed” (opinion-editorial) columnist, not a “journalist”. There is QUITE a difference. Journalists (reporters) are supposed to maintain some semblance of impartiality; op-ed writers can write whatever they wish, as long as their publisher allows it.

You have the right idea, it’s an opinion piece…editorial commentary, quite common in newspapers.

Just as the OP took the liberty to call the journalist ’ the wicked witch of the NYT’…it’s an opinion.

The journalists commentary on Donohue, seemed quite fair to me.

Tread lightly my friend or you too will end up on the wood pile. 😉 I have made it something of a hobby to archive all the posts of members who have been exiled and the list is quite extensive.

Say 10 Hail Mary’s and pray that God puts your mind right.

I won’t read it as it would just get my bloodpressure up at the moment…the MSM however, hates Christianity. They really hate Catholicism in particular, but Christianity in general. Their prime objective is to scew and twist facts to make the Catholic Church look bad. They have had an agenda for quite some time now. I think Sean Hannity coined it right when he said that the Media is dead. They are as corrupt at this point, I believe, as the legislators in Washington and the leaders in the Corporate world.

I have a query. Can’t the publishers be held accountable for what they print? Don’t articles of the sort, such as Dowd’s, defammatory of innocent priests (not to mention the faithful Catholic who, because of current events, now becomes open to ridicule) and have recourse to legal redress?

Satan behind media attacks on the Pope, asserts Italian exorcist

Rome, Italy, Mar 31, 2010 / 11:47 am (CNA).- Noted Italian exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth, commented this week that the recent defamatory reporting on Pope Benedict XVI, especially by the New York Times, was “prompted by the devil.”

Speaking to News Mediaset in Italy, the 85-year-old exorcist noted that the devil is behind “the recent attacks on Pope Benedict XVI regarding some pedophilia cases.”

“There is no doubt about it. Because he is a marvelous Pope and worthy successor to John Paul II, it is clear that the devil wants to ‘grab hold’ of him.”

“He combats the Church through the men of the Church, but he can do nothing to the Church.”

I can only speculate that there has to be some sort of strange concerted Freemasonic plot as far as the timing of all of these news stories being published by the secular News Media.

There has been so much ink published about the Catholic Church during the last several weeks, I haven’t been able to keep up with it all.

I am going to guess these journalists must have been planning to attack Pope Benedict XVI’s character since the day he was elected to be Pope.

First they called him a Nazi, and when that didn’t work, they decided to attack the way he handled these abuse allegations.

It is just kind of weird how the Media, whether by broadcasting TV documentaries like ‘The Tomb of Christ’, when reporting the Boston scandal in 2002, it all comes out during Lent.

The secular Media seems to want to create especially a frenzy and a climax with regard to the Vatican during Holy Week.

The secular Media seems like they are trying to cause as much damage to the Catholic Church’s reputation, the character of Catholic priests, the Catholic Church’s ecclesial hierarchy and the Vicar of Christ on earth, mimicking in diabolic way how the Sanhedrin and the Romans tried to destroy the nascent Catholic Church nearly 2,000 years ago.

Maybe if the Media had spent as much time on the events leading up to the Iraq War seven years ago as they have on the Vatican, we wouldn’t have invaded Iraq, the nation wouldn’t be bankrupt and have wasted $712,000,000,000 dollars, and we wouldn’t have lost 4,000 servicemen and women and an additional 30,000 wounded.

Nope… Freedom of speech.

Plus… the NY times prides itself on defaming anyone Christian or conservative. They are proud of it.

Good article.

I just gots to know!

Remind us all why the Freemasons are using factual events that occurred in the Catholic Church and then having them published in the secular news media?

Maureen Dowd is an opinion columnist. Her job is to get people talking about her articles and the paper in general.
It seems like she’s suceeded…

More abuse from the wicked witch of the NYT. Warning: Don’t read if you’re not in the mood to be riled up.

The New York Times on March 25 accused Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, of intervening to prevent a priest, Fr. Lawrence Murphy, from facing penalties for cases of sexual abuse of minors.
The story is false. It is unsupported by its own documentation. Indeed, it gives every indication of being part of a coordinated campaign against Pope Benedict, rather than responsible journalism.
Before addressing the false substance of the story, the following circumstances are worthy of note:…Read full story on above link

But it was the New York Times
’ front page of March 25 that demonstrated just how low those determined to bring the Church down were prepared to go.

Rembert Weakland is the emeritus archbishop of Milwaukee, notorious for having paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to satisfy the demands of his former male lover. Jeff Anderson is a Minnesota-based attorney who has made a substantial amount of money out of sex abuse “settlements,” and who is party to ongoing litigation intended to bring the resources of the Vatican within the reach of contingency-fee lawyers in the United States. Yet these two utterly implausible—and, in any serious journalistic sense, disqualified—sources were those the Times cited in a story claiming that, as cardinal prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith [CDF], Joseph Ratzinger, later Benedict XVI, had prevented sanctions against Father Lawrence Murphy, a diabolical Milwaukee priest who, decades before, had abused some 200 deaf children in his pastoral care. This was simply not true, as the legal papers from the Murphy case the Times provided on its Web site demonstrated (see here for a demolition of the Times’ case based on the documentary evidence it made available). The facts, alas, seem to be of little interest to those whose primary concern is to nail down the narrative of global Catholic criminality, centered in the Vatican…

It is speculation on my part.

There are a lot of Freemasons in the United States; they have always opposed the Catholic Church’s authority and conservative forms of Protestant Christianity.

Many Freemasons have held high government office positions in the United States ( the Presidency; Supreme Court Justices; etc.) and in business.

I don’t know how many Freemasons are in the Media, but I would guess there are some.

In some sense, I was just using the word “Freemason” as a metaphor.

Of course, there are other folks who want to destroy the Catholic Church as well; some liberals and some atheists to name some others.

But don’t you think it is somewhat odd how these TV specials attacking the Biblical basis of Christianity and the newspaper scandal stories about sexual abuse always are published during Lent??

Nope… Freedom of speech.

Everyone is held legally liable for any statement that is libelous, slanderous or defamatory against an individual or an organization however, it must rise to the legal definitions and truth is always the defense against such statement. I am sure the lawyers at NYT approve of any op-ed piece before publication.

As for conspiratorial theorists concerning Holy Week, this tsunami of sexual abuse started in Ireland with the Murphy report back in October 09 and then cascaded from one country to the next in Europe as more abused victims became embolden to come forth as it normally happens in situations of cover-up.

Will this scandal diminish, sadly probably not until after South America reports in. Italian exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth is right about the media being prompted by the Devil but as he also mentioned the smoke of Satan was in the halls of the Vatican and this wouldn’t be front page if there was not culpability of the Church as Pope Benedict XVI and the Church’s cardinals and bishops acknowledge. Wherever there is smoke, there usually is a fire.

One wonders if this a prelude for the justification for the beginning persecution of Christians as mentioned in Revelations.

The news media is trying to invent a new crime against humanity against the Church. We have been lied to for centuries about the Crusades and Inquisition by anti-Catholic bigots. And now this. The truth does not matter to such people. It never will.
