I was thinking that GOD wanted us to depend on ourselves at least in the simple matters, as indicated in (Genesis 3:19).
God is the God of the smallest details as well as the universe.
Every book I have read about time spent in Adoration calls for us to ask God about those things that may seem trivial, as well as that large matter which is most troubling us. We can speak to God about our relationships. We can talk to him about the toe we stubbed this morning, or thank Him for the marvelous rainbow we saw.
We can rely on God for all things. We are branches on the vine that is Christ, without whom we can do nothing and through whom all things are possible.
Does that mean that we will not need to exert personal effort in our relationships or other matters that may be troubling us? If we put our trust in God, we will find insight and ways of confronting personal issues that we would not otherwise have.
We ask for our daily bread as we pray the Our Father, that we will have the sustenance necessary to be healthy. We can ask for the job that will make it possible to earn what we need to provide that sustenance.
Since we are called to love, we can ask for a little extra to give to that person we see standing on the corner everyday so that he/she may likewise eat.
Jesus said that if when we offer our sacrifice, we remember a brother who has a grievance against us to go and be reconciled and then return. We can ask God to provide a time and place to meet that person. We can ask for a favorable outcome, remembering of course that God does not work against anybody’s will. We can ask for the necessary courage to follow Christ’s directive. If we know that person likes a particular flower, flavor of candy, or other item, we can ask God to provide that item for us to bring as a gift.
We can open our selves to the gifts, large and small, that God gives us every day.
