Per 1 Cor 11, should women pray with a headcovering? If she does not, is her head dishonored as the Apostle tells us?

This used to be the case back in the 50s and 60s. Hats or lace veils for women and girls were the norm. My mother always carried a chaplet (?) (small circular lace veil) in her purse in case she should have to go into church. Sometime during the 70s this practice stopped. I don’t know if this came about officially or if it was part of the wholesale throwing of the baby out with the bathwater that went on after Vatican II.
About the only time I see it now is if I go to an Adoration chapel. I suspect that these are simply very pious women. I don’t have a feeling on this one way or the other. Hats were very common business attire for men back then. The only men I see wearing dress hats in my area are a few attorneys and I think they do this only to make themselves more visible.

The questioner was talking about a Biblical teaching, not customs in the 50’s and 60’s.
The Biblical teaching still stands. The Church does ont *force *women to heed it, and in the mean time, the millenium(+) tradition has gone into disuse.

Well, Mark, from an historical perspective it was not until the 1970s that women went uncovered in church. My mother would not have carried a chapel caplet in her purse for her and my sister as a mere custom. Women did not go uncovered into Church back then. I doubt seriously that my mother knew it was a Biblical injunction. It was a matter of Catholic Tradition (akin to Sacred Tradition). (How many folks here still genuflect when entering or leaving a pew? I do. Catholic Tradition).
All I can say is that women wore hats when I was a child in the 50s. They started wearing mantilla’s in the early 60s and then moved to the lace chapel caplets in the mid-60s to the mid-70s. I would like to think that Our Lord doesn’t care about our physical appearance (and did I take some flack about this on the wearing jeans to Mass thread), He looks at our souls.
