True to a point…every little bit helps.I don’t think even wearing a rosary can protect one from being involved in gangs and protecting oneself unless you PRAY it.

I lent a friend who is non-religious a rosary, and I told her she shouldn’t wear it around her neck. I think it was probably for the better, as she, at that time, didn’t fully understand the purpose of the Rosary. She merely liked it aesthetically. I’m not sure if she understands it to the fullest, but she isn’t wearing it anyway. Some are also wearing it for protection…no harm in that.
It can be a great tool for evangelization- unless you’re MadonnaIs it against Catholic teaching to wear a rosary around one’s neck?
NOT if a) you’re from the “old country” and have a genuine attachment to doing so, which leads toIs it against Catholic teaching to wear a rosary around one’s neck?
As catholics we should be praying the rosary at least once a week and work ourselves up to - every day.I lent a friend who is non-religious a rosary, and I told her she shouldn’t wear it around her neck. It’s against the law in the State of Illinois to hang ANYTHING on your rear-view mirror. I just keep mine in my pocket.I keep a rosary on my rear view mirror, for several reasons 1) because I’m not afraid to admit to my religion 2) in case I get into an accident of some sort and am incapacitated people will know I am a Catholic and try to contact a priest 3) if I am going somewhere for a long period of time I won’t be without a rosary if I happen to forget to take one from home and 4) to remind me that I do not have to angrily swear at every person who cuts me off.
All good reasons, especially this one!I keep a rosary on my rear view mirror, for several reasons 1) because I’m not afraid to admit to my religion 2) in case I get into an accident of some sort and am incapacitated people will know I am a Catholic and try to contact a priest 3) if I am going somewhere for a long period of time I won’t be without a rosary if I happen to forget to take one from home and 4) to remind me that I do not have to angrily swear at every person who cuts me off.
That’s what I do… but I don’t own a car. It’s probably a good thing that they don’t allow you to hang anything from you mirror in Illinois… I was nearly run over by a semi in your state. It’s against the law in the State of Illinois to hang ANYTHING on your rear-view mirror. (I have a bumper sticker in my back window which motivates me to drive courteously…)

The church we attend has plastic rosaries in the missal “pockets” in the back of the pews–by the end of Liturgy my three year old usually has two around his neck and one stuffed surreptitiously in his pocket. He’s not irreverent–he will hold the crucifix and tell us “that’s Son of God” and makes us kiss Jesus. All good reasons, especially this one!![]()

I would not wear a rosary as a necklace – it just feels irreverent to me. However, when my DD (2 years old) wears hers, I find it endearing.![]()

I keep one hanging there for many reasons, too: to thank God I have a car and count my blessings beefore I turn the car on (kind of like buckling your safety belt before you put the keys in the ignition.)I keep a rosary on my rear view mirror, for several reasons 1) because I’m not afraid to admit to my religion 2) in case I get into an accident of some sort and am incapacitated people will know I am a Catholic and try to contact a priest 3) if I am going somewhere for a long period of time I won’t be without a rosary if I happen to forget to take one from home and 4) to remind me that I do not have to angrily swear at every person who cuts me off.
