Shreck Is NOT A Kid's Movie!

I did think that the movie was pretty vulgar to be a childrens movie. If you look at the way the culture is going you have to wonder what would comprise a “kids movie” in 50 years.
 
Neither was Sponge Bob Square Pants.

What is the story with that movie?

…Talk about religious overkill…Shreck… for Gods sake… I would HOPE the God I am suposed to believe in watched Shreck and LAUGHED when he heard how they tried to get Pinochios nose to grow… or seen the ugly stepsister with the manly voice… I HOPE he finds it funny…cause it IS.
 
Nope. It was not a kids’ movie. It was rude & full of inuendo and I’m so sick of Hollywood thinking my children are fair game for their warped version of what is appropriate. So we watched it once and will NOT see it again.

But to each his own… I get to decide for my kids - you get to decide for yours.

Regarding the poster who said that the God he was supposed to worship he’d hope would find the movie funny - Hmm… this verse came to my mind: "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.

I just don’t think Shrek falls into ANY of those catagories.
 
I disgree…I find Shreck very (praiseworthy) and the ending message is (admirable) as well… and when asked, I tell people it was an (excellent) movie… so you see… people that dont have hangups about harmless movies realize not everything needs to be holy and non secular to fit those statements.

I imagine so many here going to the theater and instead of enjoying a movie, PURPOSELY looking to read into movies things that arent there… cause Hollywood is NOTHING BUT “evil” 😛

… Sorry folks, it’s not a matter of the “real world”. It’s a matter that a movie which was marketed towards young children,in the form of breakfast cereals and soaps, is not appropriate for them. If they cut out the crotch rubbing, cross dressing, and butt licking out it would have been better.

I agree. The media continually pushes the envelope, desensitizing our children to more crudeness every day. (Even many of the commercials on television now that aren’t downright raunchy are there for shock value of some sort.)

Back to children watching Shrek…

“Gee, Mommy,” says little Billy. “I didn’t know it wasn’t good to rub my crotch. You thought it was funny when Pinocchio did it!” :ehh:

The movie Shrek is not the movie where Pinochio did the Michael Jackson move. Shrek 2 was. Although the original post was about Shrek the first movie, (or at least it did not say it was about Shrek 2) people keep lumping the two movies together.

My family tremendously enjoyed the original Shrek. Shrek 2 we saw but only one time. We just did not find it as funny.

But to talk as if both movies were the same is just not true.

Certainly you may think neither were appropriate, but try to keep which movie you are speaking about separate. They are not the same movie nor do they both have the same level of adult humor.

Sad to say but Disney is not what it once was years ago. We are cautious about any Disney produced movies, TV etc. in recent years. They manage to throw just enough off color words or trash into many of their movies now that we avoid most all of them. We cannot raise our kids in a bubble to protect them from everything out there, but we sure can do what we can to avoid any excess garbage going into their heads.
 
Disney may not be what it once was, but just FYI, Shrek is not a Disney production. It is a Dreamworks production. Dreamworks and Disney are rivals. Jeffrey Katzenberg used to work for Disney, but then left to form his own company - Dreamworks.

Besides Shrek, they also made movies like “SharkTale” and the upcoming “Wallace and Grommit”.

and still think Shrek and S2 are funny – love the Puss in Boots!!

Hollywood is pretty evil. Especially when they push raunchy(cartoon characters licking it’s butt, Pinnochio grabbing/rubbing his crotch) behavior as harmless “humor” for children.
I wonder what the pope would think about a fairy tale character performing a rude dance move and whether or not it were a wonderful and praiseworthy thing for a child to view.
 
I thought they were both hilarious, and my kids did, too. And for the record, I don’t consider the “A word” to be a cuss word. It’s kind of rude, and I wouldn’t want them to say it in front of company or at school, but I don’t think it’s a bad word.
