A portion of it was proven to medieval but scientists themselves say that the shroud shows signs of fire which allows for the possibility of repair being done to it at some point in time since the sample they used was on the edges.I thought this was already proven it wasn’t medieval?
As a person who prides himself on being a doubting Thomas I can say that the scientific information thus far has all been leaning one way. There still is no explanation as to how it was possible that anyone prior to modern was able to a). produce a 3d digital image without using any painting utensils and b). how did the person know to do that because it would be scrutinized. Based on everything we know up until now, logic dictates it is authentic.Actually, the carbon dated samples were taken from Shroud samples containing repair work from the medieval ages. The mixed fibers skewed the test results. There are excellent publications on the market that discuss the subject thoroughly.
News of the positive test results is wonderful. I’ve always believed in the Shroud’s authenticity, but scientific reassurance is always welcome. Those who doubt the Shroud may be convinced with scientific data.
When the Shroud was first tested, not one of the specialists present were able to identify the source of the image through scientific means. That was all the proof I needed. Our Lord Jesus Christ left the Shroud impression!
I would totally agree. Also, after seeing a married couple’s work, several years ago, proving a theory that the threads carbon tested from the shroud had been those used to repair fire damage in the 16th century, I have always believed in the authenticity of the shroud. Glad to see it has since been verified. As a person who prides himself on being a doubting Thomas I can say that the scientific information thus far has all been leaning one way. You know the scientist in me would LOOOOOOOVE to allow them to take a sample of the blood spots and get information based on that…blood type etc. I know that would never happen because in order to do so you’d destroy the piece. Thats why the meat of the shroud can’t be carbon dated because you’re gonna destroy it.I would totally agree. I wonder how much world press the story will receive and/or how long will it be before the evidence is refuted.![]()
I’d seen evidence that certain pollens still trapped in the threads came from plants found only in the region around the Holy Land (vs. Europe).Actually, the carbon dated samples were taken from Shroud samples containing repair work from the medieval ages. Dunno. There are so many patches, mends, scorch marks, and other intrusions into the body of the shroud now that it would seem to me a small matter to take fiber from the undisputed original area of the shroud, with the goal of once and for all establishing its authenticity free of the known medieval repairs. You know the scientist in me would LOOOOOOOVE to allow them to take a sample of the blood spots and get information based on that…blood type etc. I know that would never happen because in order to do so you’d destroy the piece. To me it comes down to show me how a person in the middle ages could have made the shroud in the manner that it appears…3d image with no brush marks.
No, I know, but I thought we had already received positive confirmation about it pointing to first century.Actually, the carbon dated samples were taken from Shroud samples containing repair work from the medieval ages. Again, I thought there was a test on blood type…and it was AB+You know the scientist in me would LOOOOOOOVE to allow them to take a sample of the blood spots and get information based on that…blood type etc. I know that would never happen because in order to do so you’d destroy the piece. Yes, this is what I was thinking of!I’d seen evidence that certain pollens still trapped in the threads came from plants found only in the region around the Holy Land (vs. Europe).
The next step is to map out the DNA.Again, I thought there was a test on blood type…and it was AB+
You can’t. The blood is very old to yield correct and definitive results. (So no, you can’t clone a Jesus into existence. The next step is to map out the DNA.![]()
I tried to verify this once, because it was asserted to be the same as in the Miracle Host of Lanciano, and couldn’t find any reliable evidence for it.Again, I thought there was a test on blood type…and it was AB+
Actually there is absolutely and positively no way to perform any more carbon dating on the Shroud. The reason being that after all those tests done in the 60’s and 70’s the “scientists” advised the Church to put the Shroud in a special container with a gas that would ensure that even in a fire is would suffer the damage inflicted to it previously.Dunno. A little about the blood on the Shroud.I tried to verify this once, because it was asserted to be the same as in the Miracle Host of Lanciano, and couldn’t find any reliable evidence for it.
It was something like:
The blood type in the miracle host is AB (true and measured), which is the same as in the shroud of Turin (where did you get that?).
