Besides the petitions to sign, has anyone heard of anything else being planned (protests, marches, etc…). I have written my congressmen, and signed the petition, but I have done these same things before on other issues, without them being effective. A petition shows there are several people who are willing to put their name on a piece of paper, but what effect does that truly have. Obama can counter with, people voiced their opinion when they voted for me, knowing I was going to sign this into law. Personally I think several large demonstrations in large cities (maybe a march on Washington) that get media coverage to go along with the petitions and flooding Senator’s emails with letters, would go further in putting more focus on this. Until it becomes a focal point of the media and the public, the pressure will not be great enough to change Obama, his advisors, and the other Senators that are in favor of FOCA opinions (IMO). For those who haven’t read it, I recommend going to ahumbleplea.com and reading Randall Terry’s A Humble Plea. It makes you think, “Have I done enough to bring this to an end”.

This years March for Life in Washington DC is the same time as inauguration… might be a sobering thing to have record crowds at the march for Soon to be Pres Obama.

I will make sure to pass on to everyone about the March for Life. I will make plans to attend, thankfully, my brother lives in DC, so expenses are minimal to go there.

I know I started this thread, but since then I have been informed that these kinds of petitions get ignored or overlooked. I was told what really matters is your letters to your senators and congressmen, especially the newly elected one that are pro-abortion. They need to hear how we feel on this issue. It is time for all Catholics and other Christians to join together as one voice for the life of the unborn and all morality.

The Catholic Council of Bishops are joining in to fight Obama on abortion. Read more, it is great news at hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/R/REL_CATHOLIC_BISHOPS?SITE=INEVA&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

and usccb.org/prolife/issues/abortion/index.shtml

I am glad to see some of the Bishops stand up and raise their voice on this issue. What bothers me is some of the clergy and lay people that are saying to not be to vocal, or watch what is said, etc… IMO, the clergy had been not vocal enough for quite sometime. I think the lack of their public outcry had an effect on church goers who may have thought that it may not be as big an issue since overall the clergy was not forcefully vocal about it. Hopefully they will continue to speak out, and help bring togather the pro lifers to stop the laws that our government is considering. I still think everyone should sign the petition. Signing the petition along with sending a letter to the congressmen are steps that show which side we take on this issue. I hope that as many as possible will take the next step and join the March for Life in January, so we can show Washington how united the pro life movement is.

By the grace of God, my mother didn’t abort me as the 4th child when they certainly could not afford another child. I have two friends with disabilities who are more than happy to be alive and contributing positively to society today. They make my day with their joyful outlook. One was abandoned because she was a handicapped baby and the other was born with spina bifida into a Catholic family. They are living proof that God can take negative circumstances and turn them into blessings if we only give Him a chance.

I am glad I am alive to sign the petition and pray that God will open people’s minds and hearts to the abundant Truth and love He has for everyone, especially the weakest of the weak - unborn baby humans.
