Silly Question: What Should I do if Mary Appears?

Assuming I’ve confirmed that I’m awake and sober, I will ask the apparition to declare before God that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, and declare that Jesus Christ is Lord.

After that, I’ll do as the other saints did: ask her what she wants.

Then, I ask for an audience with my bishop, have him hear me in Confession, and relay the message.

Finally, I obey my bishop. If the apparition is really our Lady, she will commend me for obeying him who bears the fullness of Christ’s priesthood. That’s why she went through much trouble to give a sign through Juan Diego in Guadalupe.

If she asserts her own authority over that of the bishop, then I would know the apparition is false.

I honestly believe that none of us would be as calm and pragmatic as we seem to be saying. If the Blessed Mother appears; asks us to pray with her (she almost always does) we can begin to come out of our dumbfoundedness caused by Heaven actually touching down here with us.

She never appeared without an important message foe all mankind.

How do we know that there haven’t been private revelations that simply haven’t been publisized? I wouldn’t doubt that she might appear to people in some cases with a message or something that changes something personally for that person.

I think that we’ve never been given information on apparitions that didn’t have a message for everybody.

OK, this might be silly, but if Mary suddenly appeared in my office, what would be the proper response. Should I stand and say hello, bow, kneel, fall prostrate on the floor, what? I question the proper action because I wouldn’t want to bow down before a false god.

Wouldn’t your heart, assuming you were a good person, recognize the apparition if it was real?

Do you think it is possible that you, upon seeing the aparition, could immediately find that something in the very core of your being, in the very center of your soul would instantly recognize the pureness and love coming from an authentic aparition? What if that piece of you cried out in welcome before your conscious self realized what was going on? Almost as if you’ve been talking and walking with her all along.

Could it be possible that your very soul would recognize the absolute pureness of love radiating from an authentic apparition?
Maybe that recognition is so instinctual that later you think back with wonder about it amazed that your reaction to it came so naturally.

Do we know if Mary ever appears to anyone, authentically, tells them something and then leaves. A situation where there isn’t dialog but a statement?

I would most defenitly weep and be overwhelmed with fear and happiness. I mean come on, seriously, Mother Mary appearing before us?! Wow!

I would most likely kneel, but thinking about that is strange. I mean I am not worshiping her, only admiring and respecting her, therefore I’d kneel. But i’d kneel before God because I am HIS, and am submissive to Him, and MUST obey Him. I worship Him.

I don’t know, was just comparing the different reasons for kneeling.

Back in the day, it seemed that apparations were more common than now. I think perhaps they occur now, but people don’t mention them (for the obvious reason, they would be laughed at or prescribed Thorazine).

It’s a test of one’s courage and spiritual maturity to receive a vision. Personally, I don’t think I’d want one.

However, should Mary appear in your office, OP, my suggestion is to invite her to have a seat and ask why she’s there.

Are you looking at Catholic newspapers? It seems to me as if there are more visions of Mary occurring now than there ever have been.

I’m with you - she never just comes to say “Hello” - there is always some big, huge, difficult task that she wants you to do.

If you have ever seen a video of someone in an estatic vision, they immediately fall to their knees. I saw a John Stossel show on miracles, and they had a short spot on a hispanic lady who said that she had apparitions of the Blessed Mother. I saw this lady, who was in her 50s, immediately fall directly on her knees from a standing position.There was a loud and resounding Thud when her knees hit the floor. This fall did not faze her. If I attempted to do the same thing, both my knee caps would be dislocated.

Yes, Medjugorje is very real, and very full of the Holy Spirit. I received a calling to go there after I stumbled onto a book called “The Visions of the Children.” It was so neat to see how everything fell into place, with even my unbelieving husband giving me his blessing to go. (That was probably the biggest miracle). And was we were there, it was as if the Blessed Virgin herself was our tour guide, the way everything worked out perfectly. I did see a “sign”. My friend and I kept wishing for a sign. The priest we brought along said we were being childish, but we didn’t care. The last day, my friend and I saw the cross disappear on Cross Mountain. It was the most wonderful week of my life.

To answer the original question: Continue to Love the way Jesus Loves. Also note this is a hypothetical and they are not real! This is a fantasy of the imagination - the hypothetical is. As far as seeing, I don’t doubt people see things like this, but please hear this. Seeing requires no faith! You want to recognize Satan? He cannot Love - very simple.

Jesus has often appeared to people - St. Faustina, St. Margaret-Mary. my Mom, etc.

Maybe you would not fall to your knees, maybe you would be unaware of your body and be in the vision you see. Maybe you would not instantly drop to your knees because you may not recognise who it is who is appearing to you until you are allowed to know who it is who is coming to you this way, if that is Jesus or Mary or Angel or Saint, but I would believe that the soul and the heart of a person who has received such a vision would strive to have the habit to keep their heart and soul constantly on its knees before God whatever they are doing in life. This is more important than wondering where to put your limbs if such a thing were ever to happen ; it is more important to wonder about the soul and heart being on their knees and humble.
