In my current parish which I have belonged to for almost 5 years there is nothing to get involved with.

When I was a Protestant further years back I was in bible studies, volleyball tournaments, picnics, potlucks and a large singles group. As a single guy in his 30s who hoped to get married joining a church which disapproves of divorce and remarriage made no sense; especially since there were virtually no single women my age in the church.
if your church offers nothing to get involved in…then start something!

I’m sure if you asked, you would be supported and you just may find that there are a lot of people in your parish who are so grateful for someone to have the courage to start something.

I know if my parish offered volleyball even once a month or a once a week drop in session - i would go. Also ask your parish priest about starting a weekly Bible study (the participants can pay for their own bible study materials) maybe you can even lead one! And offer to help organize a parish picnic if not on the church’s grounds at a local spot for picnicing and swimming. Could be a smash hit!

Good luck - and I hope I hear in the future that your parish now offers volleyball and bible study!

Actually in my previous parish I led a bible study and a prayer group. I also started a pro-life group.

That in my 68 years as a catholic who when I worked was transfured quite often is a new one on me.

As for activities do they not have a K of C, or bible study. If not talk to your pastor about getting one.

The Divorce is not the Church; it’s God Himself who set this rule.
Mt. 5:31-32 “And it hath been said, whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce. But I [Christ] say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery”

As for meeting singles: What about

If you seek God’s help with a request that is for your spiritual betterment; He’ll help you out.

If you allow these excuses to keep you out of the only church and faith founded, guided and protected by the HS [Jn. 14;16-17 /Jn.20;21-22] and Jesus Personally [John 17:15-19]; my young friend, your making a fatally spiritual error.

There is but one God who is Perfect
Matthew 5:48 “Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect”

Our One Perfect God logically cannot hold contradictory views on the same defind issues

I can prove biblically that God’s Will, and desires lies within only His CC.🙂

I’ll pray for you,

Pat/PJM.

First of all I am now married. And I did not get married until I was 61. I was obedient to the church on that matter. And my wife is Lutheran. She was previously married but it was anulled.

Second. My parish does have a KofC and I tried two or three times to get in but they never called back. And since nobody there knows me that cannot be the excuse.

Third, I am a Catholic and will die one. I know that the Catholic church is the one and only one Jesus created. So I am not leaving in spite of my gripes.

Central Florida? Is that anywhere near Brooksville?

Hey; 2 out 3 aint bad!😃

Seriously though; contact the parish office and ask for the phone number for the GRAND KNIGHT. I’m sure this is just a screw-up of some kind.

I’ve never heard of Brooksville. were just east of I95 between the Cape and Daytona Beach.

Glad to hear you did so good!

God Bless,

So a friend of mine (Cradle Catholic) cannot understand my love and passion for the Church. He attends Mass, Confession…etc, but only out of obligation (his words not mine). He is in Aww of how passionate I am about my faith.

Do you think a cradle Catholic is more inclinded to take the Church for granted rather than someone is seeks the truth and converts? I am a Catholic convert myself now for about 20 years now and my desire and passion for the faith and Church has only grown. I have my days of excuse like the rest, but I grow and love the Church more and more everyday.

I would love to hear from both converts and cradle!!!
I am a cradle Catholic who fell away from The Church and then came running Home. I appreciated the Faith but never REALLY appreciated the Faith and the Church until I came back.

Now I am Catholic Out Loud, a Catechist and a Third Order Dominican…

I think it depends upon how the Faith is taught…and I think we need to instill passion in the children so that even if they fall away, when they come back they will be ON FIRE…👍

I think in bigger metro areas a lot of Catholics leave because the protestants are better at what you mention. A few of my relatives left because they liked the get togethers and the like(they live in Chicago).

can we get a big AMEN

I think many cradle Catholics don’t have the passion for two simple reasons…
  1. They haven’t studied the historical and scriptural basis of our Faith.
  2. They haven’t spent time in other denominations, and don’t realize how ‘weak’ those denominations are. They just don’t stand up to intensive scrutiny the way Catholicism does.
Be careful, so of the worst anti-catholic protestants I’ve met were former catholic’s. 😛

I came into the Church at the age of 8, 56 years ago from no religion. I guess I am considered a “convert”. I have waned, but always came back to the teaching of the Church and am a faithful as I know how to be. However, I know of so many people who, when I say I was baptized into the Church at age 8, give me this long, OOOOHHHH, your a convert. Their reaction has always made me feel like a “2nd class Catholic.” I don’t know if any of you have ever felt that way, but I have all my life. I try to avoid, at all cost, having to tell anyone that I am a convert. I feel that many “cradle” Catholics, at least the ones I have come into contact with over the years, seem to give the indication that you are less of a Catholic because you were not baptized as a baby. I don’t feel that these people do it deliberately, but I know how they have reacted to me when I tell them I am a convert and how I feel afterwards. I feel that I am just as faithful a convert Catholic as a cradle Catholic regardless of being baptized at the age of 8.
It would be nice if cradle Catholics would just treat the convert Catholic the same way that they would if they were talking with another cradle Catholic. We are all Catholics and as faithful as we can or cannot be regardless of the fact that some of us are converts and others are cradle.
Eight years old is pretty young, if this is the only religion you’ve ever known, then to ME
your a cradle catholic! 😃

I have met few converts who rave about the way things were done in their previous faith. Usually they RAIL against the untruth they experienced in their previous faith. 🙂

Please remember that although the Protestant faith does not contain the fullness of truth it does contain bits of truth.

The zeal of a Baptist shouldn’t be sneered at but rejoiced in!
The passion of a Pentecostal shouldn’t be scoffed at but enjoyed!
The careful study of the Bible of literalists shouldn’t be ignored but embraced!

I’m not sure why certain aspects of the Protestants faiths SHOULD annoy you. So long as it’s not in opposition to the Catholic faith it can be a good thing!
But these things should not be at the expense of your catholicism:rolleyes:

As for me, when I was a protestant, I had plenty of erroneous ideas about to catholicism.
But after RICA, I know that catholicism was the one true faith. 🙂

I don’t understand. You think zeal, passion, and study of the Bible are things that would cost our Catholicism?

I think that if you look at history, you will see that these very things are what built and formed Catholicism. We should be encouraging them, not warning people against them.🤷

More often than not, these are the very things that led the person to Catholicism.

AS A FYI, FOR OUR WORLDWIDE AUDIENCE; this stems from a guilty conscience and trying to justify to themselves’ though others there now at risk souls:o

Hebrews 6:4-8 address this specifically and is addressed to Catholics. Which BTW was the ONLY “church” that existed when the book was authored.

Let us PRAY:signofcross::gopray::gopray2::byzsoc::crossrc:

Awww that guilt will get ya everytime. Years back I decided to start attending an Episcopal Church. It was much like Catholicism. It was a small parish with an awesome priest. He gave wonderful homiles and really cared about the parish! BUT lol, the whole time I was there, it felt as if I were cheating lol.

A lot of the people there were once Catholic and conerted to Episcopalian. After talking with a lot of them, I noticed why that converted. One lady was pro-killing babies, another was in a homosexual relationship, one guy was also in a homosexual relationship and another lady’s was the mother of the priest there.

They all converted to a faith that allowed them to live for themselves rather than God. I am not judging them as people because they all were very nice and loving people. I just noticed that many Catholics who convert to other faiths do not do so for doctrinal reasons but rather for social reasons.

I was almost a cradle Catholic I suppose. We moved before I was baptized and my mother sort of fell out of the Catholic Church. Bless her, I pray that her soul has made it to heaven or she will be there sooner than later. Her death has turned me from an atheist to a Believer.

I hope to be a convert. I love God with all my heart and beyond my understanding. I ache for Him and long to be in the presence of my family in Christ.
I have my doubts sometimes but then that yearning hits me hard and I want to be home.

Am I more passionate about my faith than a cradle Catholic? I dunno. I have enough of my own stuff to sort out without worrying what others are doing. I pray for everyone, though. I hope they pray for me, too.

You will be in my prayers as well as your mother! May you find peace and I ask the Holy Spirit guide you on your journey!

A cradle Catholic who leaves and then comes back or just stops practicing their Catholic faith and then comes back to practicing their Catholic faith is called a “revert”.

I believe that we all have to go thru a conversion in Christ (Baptism in the Holy Spirt which is different from our one Baptism) whether we are Catholic (cradle, convert or revert) or whether we are one of the over 35,000 different Protestant faiths.
What do you call a cradle Catholic who was never brought up in the faith and then later in life went to an Evangelical church and then later on decided to go to the Catholic Church?

I was baptized Catholic but I was brought up atheist. I didn’t actually stop practicing the faith because I never started in the first place. Am I still a revert?

Can you provide some links and also tell me how you came upon becoming a Third Order Dominican? Was it Holy Spirit inspired that led you to this order? You can PM or just add the links here and more detail about the Third Order Dominican. Thanks. Peace2u2
