if your church offers nothing to get involved in…then start something! In my current parish which I have belonged to for almost 5 years there is nothing to get involved with.
When I was a Protestant further years back I was in bible studies, volleyball tournaments, picnics, potlucks and a large singles group. As a single guy in his 30s who hoped to get married joining a church which disapproves of divorce and remarriage made no sense; especially since there were virtually no single women my age in the church.
I’m sure if you asked, you would be supported and you just may find that there are a lot of people in your parish who are so grateful for someone to have the courage to start something.
I know if my parish offered volleyball even once a month or a once a week drop in session - i would go. Also ask your parish priest about starting a weekly Bible study (the participants can pay for their own bible study materials) maybe you can even lead one! And offer to help organize a parish picnic if not on the church’s grounds at a local spot for picnicing and swimming. Could be a smash hit!
Good luck - and I hope I hear in the future that your parish now offers volleyball and bible study!
