Praise be to God! 😃 😃 Hallelujah.

Greetings ForwardProgress:)
Simple poll…just for my own knowledge of the ratio between converts and cradle Catholics on CAF.

Thanks for participating!
I like to state that I was born a cradle Catholic and I converted to Protestantism in 1990.
It seems if you ask this question of Protestants that percentage would likely refect a higher Cradle Catholic ratio as well.🙂

I am a cradle Catholic. My father was Presby and we haD spirited discussion growing up. I chose to stay Catholic because of it’s instituition by Our Father. When you have been given a gift that keeps on giving, never return it or throw it away!

John Paul II put it best…BE NOT AFRAID!

That’s why I remain true to my convictions as well.

Proud convert! Became a Christian two years ago this past July and came into the Church the following Easter.

cradle Catholic, uncatechized…

conversion experience when very young…

fell away after a couple yrs…

hit rock bottom

prayed the rosary

terrible things happened because the devil didn’t like that…

now in Purgatory… trying to un-fry an egg… (deal with the consequences of bad choices :(, consequences of ignorance…

Ignorance is not bliss in the end… )

now an outspoken, totally annoying, dyed-in-the-wool Roman Catholic…

Convert, both my spouse, myself, and our two older children were all baptized together at the Easter vigil 2005.

Cradle … fell away … Returned.

I wonder how many of the above “cradles” fall into my situation? 😉

98%

and the other 2% are only admitting it in Confession… 🙂

Ok, i guess there coiuld be a few who never fell away…

PLEASE tell us your stories…

i like strange, implausible stories… 😃

strange only because… well, the way the world is… hard to believe anyone stays on the straight and narrow very well, all throughout life…. :hmmm:

My dad belonged to no particular religion (was a very agnostic scientific sort)
My mom was born and raised Jehovah’s Witness, married a Catholic before marrying my dad (started conversion, but she never finished…they divorced…)

When I was a “wild and crazy” kid, my mom and I (after dad left the picture) joined the Mormon church (I had friends in school who were LDS, she thought it would “cool my jets” to belong to an extremely “conservative” religion). I wanted to be Catholic even then…but mom was very discouraging of it…I know it had to do with her first marriage, but even to this day she will not speak of it…

Stopped going to church the MINUTE I turned 18 and mom said she “could not make me go” anymore.

Wandered the desert of agnosticism…then went sort of “new age-crystal rubbing-spiritual” for a number of years (read: I was making it up as I went along).

Entering RCIA September 2009.
