Oh, not that I’m aware of. It has troubled me for years this issue and I’m sure many others. It greatly compromises trust which shocks us to our core that men of God in the house of the Lord could commit such evil.
As horrifying, disturbing and inexcusable as all of this is, try to take what comfort you can in realizing that the focus of the world is on the Church, and that action has been and is being taken. We know that, try as they might, the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. That does not mean that the Church is immune to any sort of evil - rather, it is guaranteed to exist among us. Take heart that medicinal measures are being taken, even if at a late date.

Have you expressed your concern to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament? As well, we are wise to seek the consolation of the Holy Spirit in such times.

For several decades in my former life, I monitored and reported on aberrations in human behavior. I noted that we humans at times have a tendency to become more upset over wrongs done to others than even those who were actually wronged.

The bottom line is that all of this is outside of our control. For that reason, our options are limited, but to remain on the positive side, we can pray for all involved. At various times during my life, I have had to recall that God is in charge of all things. As well, he is bringing good out of this evil - it is just that we have not fully realized it yet.

If you draw back and look at the big picture, the Church has been in somewhat of a malaise since the post-WWII era. It is coming out of it now and a true internal reformation is well underway. Have patience and pray. Things are definitely on the mend. If you look back at the Aryan heresy that divided the Church, it took hundreds of years to finally squelch it.

I meant what I said about the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Spirit. Amazing comfort will be found in their company. Miracles happen there.

How do we come to terms with the actions of those who profess to spiritual lead (priests, bishops etc.) in relation to the sex abuse scandal? The church moved people around knowing what horrors they did. Yes people are flawed but this is deeply grave and lives are permanently destroyed. We speak of the evils of the world but we have to somehow explain these horrific actions in the hiearchy. It’s painful because with all our sins and struggles we (or I ) look to the church as being better then ourselves through human nature.
i just remember i phase i read sometime ago, i think it is the bible “judgement begins in the house of God”.
Peace
