If you give something up for lent such as candy and then give in to it and eat some anyway, is this considered a sin?
It is not an objective sin if it is not undertaken as a vow made to God and in God’s name or is required by a precept of the Church. If you give something up for lent such as candy and then give in to it and eat some anyway, is this considered a sin?
You need to talk this over with a priest in Confession. Never forget the old adage: When in doubt, confess!

I’m curious…where have you seen this? Because, I have to be honest, that sounds like dubious advice. We should confess sins, to be sure. But, encouraging someone to confess things that AREN’T sins is encouraging scrupulosity.
The issue in question certainly is not sinful. So, why would it be matter for the sacrament of penance?
