Sinfulness of Signature Forgery

For an honors society requirement, I need to have a certain amount of volunteer service hours completed. I have volunteered enough hours, but I had forgotten to bring the sheet to obtain a signature. I recently found out that the due date for the sheet is Wednesday, and I can only visit the person from whom I would need the signatures on Friday’s. Would it be sinful for me to forge the signature of the woman for the hours I have completed, taking into account that I am fairly certain that she would if I could visit her, and she has been pretty lenient with volunteers in the past?

Why not call the woman and ask her permission? That way there are no questions involved.

It’s sinful, and it’s also a bad idea. If she ever comes back and says “Hey, I never signed this.” Your credibility takes a serious blow. So I wouldn’t do it.

I agree with @OKComputer that it’s a bad idea. Perhaps you could explain the situation to the person you are supposed to give the form to and see if you could get an extension.

Dishonesty, lying, forgery, none of that is good.

Call the place where you volunteered, ask for their fax number and fax a the sheet over for signature. You can find a fax machine in the school office.

Something about “Honor Society” and “forgery” just do not seem congruent.
