How could she be ordained as a priest – if my memory is correct, we don’t have women priests in the Catholic Church.

Who would receive any so-called sacrament from these women? Really makes you wonder what kind of following they have.

She is not a Roman Catholic priest, nor was she ever ordained as a Roman Catholic priest. It might be more correct to say she pretends to be a Roman Catholic priest, and that she went through a pretend ordination by a group of pretend women Roman Catholic priests. She is a heretic though…and does need our prayers.

“Jesus would not excommunicate anybody,” she said. “Jesus opened his arms to everyone.”

I love how people always presume Jesus or God agrees with them just to forward their own agenda or justify their erroneous beliefs.

That’s just the secular news spin. It makes is sound like she’s validly ordained but that the RC Church rejected her because she’s a woman. In fact, she only simulated a Sacrament and that’s an excommunicable sin regardless of the gender of the offender.

The scary thing is she acknowledges her age (as though 67 makes her some feeble old crone living in a seaside cave with her pet raven or something) and admits she likely doesn’t have much longer to live. And you do THAT!

Flying in a hot air balloon, I get.

Bungee jump, sure, though not my thing.

Get yourself excommunicated? Not on the to do list, lady.

Obviously, if she doesn’t believe the Church precepts on excommunication and valid ordination, she likely hasn’t for awhile, and while her act has made it public, God would have known her obstinant heart either way.

People like this anger me, which usually tells me I need to pray for her.

You made be burst out laughing. :rotfl:

A topic that seems taboo is the lesbians that become nuns to live their lives out amongst women. We talk a lot about the males but the females go unmentioned. I could see suffering from this condition and being angry at the Church and God. For two years, she prepared for the event and did not share her intention with a sister (superior?) and for how many more (decades) had she been present but not a member of the Church? Convents, monasteries, all male or all female college and universities are all good places to hide out or just be. This is at a concern for why many college and universities have changed their system.

She sounds like a hurting soul, trying to minister to fellow hurting souls. I do not condone what she has done, because as a nun she was able to help those souls, now she is without vocation.
She ministers to residents at Atria Northgate, an assisted living park. She cited a time when a pastor was too busy to come to a woman on her death bed.

"I said I would go right down. I have that freedom to give the last rites, to help that person walk into the loving arms of their God, whoever he or she may be.
The chaos of the church during the time she has been a nun has turned her heart and mind against it. I believe what she has done was in desperation due to the lack of priests for pastoral care. I hope she repents and is restored as a nun. Lord, have mercy, on us all.

Pray for more priests. Pray for vocations.

(For some reason, I am reminded of Deborah in the Old Testament, who when no man arose, God appointed her as prophetess and judge over Israel. If men do not heed the calling, could this mean women are stepping in, administering last rites, when no priest is available? Is this scandal? I remember calling three parishes when my father was dying. God eventually, mysteriously sent a priest and my mother was ministered by an Episcopalian.)

“…who ever she or he may be”? So, God could be a male or female.

Well, Casilda, if I am unable to have a priest give me the last rights when my time comes, the last person I want to see is a women pretending to be a priest giving me the last rights.

I believe she has excommunicated herself by her actions. The reason why women cannot be ordained priests is because God does not want that. It is a divine law, not a Church rule.

I think she is seriously misguided. She says “she wants people to be able to run into the arms of a loving God, whoever he or she may be”. I also believe she has a kind heart with very good intentions, despite her disobedience.

Why do you call WCOP a “secular” news medium?
95 percent of the employees there who put out the news are theists, just like you.

.
WCPO’s man page says its a television station in the Scripps group. Most, if not all of the Scripps television stations are secular. I could not find any indication that this station was anything but. Where did you find otherwise?

FWIW, I didn’t say anything about WCPO and its role in spin. It is a common thing for media outlets or individuals in the media to talk about ordination in this way.

I’m not intending this to be snarky, but shouldn’t it read “priestess”? The Church doesn’t have priestesses.

How about if I worked as the assistant of a brain surgeon. An emergency situation comes in, a bullet in the head that needs to be removed. The surgeon is occupied with another patient removing a tumor. Oh, but, hey, I am available - so I say so. I have time, I am available. Where is the patient? And this is suppose to be justified because the surgeon was not available?!? The matter with pretending to be a priest is worst than attempting to replace a brain surgeon. It’s not merely a problem of competence.

You ever notice how it’s always one of the nuns that doesn’t wear a habit that are involved in these kinds of controversies? It’s always the ones that are difficult to spot as a nun, the ones who look like any other women. You would never hear for instance, one of Mother Angelica’s Poor Clares, or a Discalced Carmelite, or any of the traditional Catholic nuns who live in a monastery dedicated to a life of contemplative prayer involved in these types of scandals. The fact is, these traditional Catholic nuns are thriving…and I respect the living daylights out of them! The beautiful nuns in the following videos are just a few of the many cloistered nuns that are doing it right!
The Poor Clares of Perpertual Adoration at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery

Peace, Mark

Not just women…I believe she was ordained by a male human being.
nevertheless, it was all “pretend”.
Just an fyi that moderator Robert Bay posted earlier today that you should not call people “heretics” on this forum.

.
Missed the post. In future, I’ll say that she is a poor misguided woman who calls herself a Catholic who is spouting things directly contradictory to the teachings of her Church.
