I like to think that God has given us an inquisitive questioning mind because He wants us to seek Him. That’s why He poses to us many enigmatic problems, such as this huge, 1,500 mile cubed measurement for the New Jerusalem. God sent the prophet Daniel answers when he pondered the 70 years and gave him glimpses into the future and also end times. God says in Romans that He can be found in the works of His hands.
John when he wrote his book on the Isle of Patmos did not understand some things yet he wrote them down, including the New Jerusalem. John wrote about a 200 million man army when at that time there were barely that many on earth. It was such an unbelievable figure that John seems to be saying: " Hey guys, don’t blame me - I just write down what is told to me!" (paraphrasing, of course) But today, China can field an army of 200 million(I checked out this info from the CIA website)! Even instant world-wide communication is mentioned in Revelation when at that time the fastest communication was a pony express. I am sure that there were many in John’s time who would say, those things are just metaphors and not even give it a time of day.
So it is good to wonder about these things, especially eschatological matters because the end is near. Now as well as ever is not the time to be complacent and lay back and say God will handle. God wants us to stand up and search for Him,
