Skipping Penitential Rite After Confession

When you go to confession immediately before mass, and the only thing you do between confession and the start of mass is praying (including your penance) then it’s likely that when the mass starts, you won’t have any sins on your soul by the penitential rite at the start of mass.

It seems to me that praying the penitential rite when you have no sins to ask forgiveness for is insincere and disrespectful to the sacrament of confession.

So, do you skip the penitential rite after confession?

No, because I can use all the extra grace I can get!
 
How about all the sins of your past life for which you have already received Christ’s merciful forgiveness? It never hurts to renew one’s sorrow for sin and praise and thank God for His merciful acts. Don’t take things so literally.

That means any sins that I have committed and might be tempted to commit again.

Many don’t realize it but you can go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation without any Mortal sins or for that matter without any known sins and ask for the Grace of the Sacrament, by simply stating a sin that has already been confessed and forgiven.
 
It can be good for us to recall sins and sometimes to confess them more than once if we have reached a deeper level of contrition for them.(not talking about scrupulosity here) There is no reason to leave out the penitential rite. I believe our increased contrition and repentance might be alleviating some of the temporal punishment that is due us.
