I’m curious, I hear certain expressions uttered by non-Catholic Christians a lot that I never seem to hear spoken by Catholics. “Slain in the spirit” and “convicted” are just two examples. Is there a reason why we don’t use those expressions (or at least, to the point of rarity that I’ve never heard them used by Catholics.)
JL: Slain in the spirit you probably have seen on TV. Have you ever seen people in line and a pentecostal minister lays hands on them and they fall down in a faint? That’s slain in the spirit.

Convicted is when one is comdemned in his heart by the Holy Spirit for sin. Which should lead to repenance.

When I became Catholic there were a lot of terms I had no idea what they meant. Such as litrugy, apostolic and Eucharist to name a few.

When I was Protestant I knew about “Apostolic” since I went to a pentacostal church where the favorite Bible book seemed to be Acts and they preached chapter 2 into the ground about the apostles being “filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.” I’ll admit I knew little or nothing about “Eucharist” or “Liturgy” I only knew “the Lords Supper or Worship Service” and that the Lord’s Supper was merely symbolic and that Jesus didn’t drink wine but grape juice. They never explained how grape juice kept from turning to wine since back then Welch’s hadn’t been invented or any means to preserve the juice.🤷

It took me six months to not stumble over my tongue trying to say APOSTOLIC in the creed.

We used to have a pentacostal minister who could not say “Deuteronomy” He would always say “Deuteromoney”!
