Slayer Guitarist Jeff Hanneman Dead at 49

I was looking at the Slayer discography the other day not being real familiar with the band, their album covers are pretty evil, Pentagrams and the Satanic Goat.

Rest in Peace, this fellow but I think that looked like pretty evil music and the content is suppose to be pretty evil too.

Slayer lead singer Tom Araya is a practicing Catholic. Just letting it out. RIP Jeff. Saw these guys twice between 1999-2001. AWESOME!!!

Where did you hear that? That’s sounds crazy! I mean, did he convert or something? That’s quite the double life otherwise:D Is Deicide playing at Confirmations too?😃

I would be thrilled if he converted. Like, really converted. I love music. listened to them back in the day. Never liked that whole “evil” obsession. :rolleyes:

Saw King Diamond and got thrown up on stage with him:D That was just sooo inspirational:D

I always find these things odd. But will not pass judgement. If he finds that nothing he does professionally contradicts his faith, then more power to him. Not to sound melodramatic, but there is truth in the idea that “you’re not guaranteed your next breath”. We worry and fret as if this life was never ending, everyone expecting to die well into their 80s…

Perhaps the album art of Popes in hell, the inverted crosses on stage…satanic symbolism and lyrics are ok…worse is when Motörhead played at Warner theater in DC the crowd took out the first three rows of chairs. The Slayer played the next weekend and they took out five rows. All hardcore shows were banned there from then on out.

Same can be said of the swastica. Go ahead and wear a t-shirt with a big swastica and explain to everyone how this has nothing to do with German National Socialism but with whatever it stood for before the Nazi regime used it.
 
I must be the only metal fan here. LOL! With all this being said, RIP Jeff Hanneman. Metal fans will miss your talents.

Nonetheless, one needs to consider that Arayo may have been Hanneman’s only Christian influence and that may have had a positive affect regarding his last moments of his life. Who knows.

Well, I think there’s a pretty big difference between Slayer and Deicide!

However, I do hope Deicide plays confirmations one day as you suggest. Best. Confirmations. Ever!!!
