:rotfl: I have to say, sleeping on a cold night in the buff would certainly awaken thoughts that were far from sexual…😛

I agree that there is nothing ‘shameful’ about a naked human body in itself. Should we get rid of all the ancient Greek or Roman or whatever culture’s statues of naked people? Should we ban people from seeing the David because King David is portrayed in the nude?

I think it’s about your personal wiring- if sleeping in the nude awakens sinful thoughts, then avoid it. If you simply do it for comfort, go ahead.

Well, since you posted this on a public discussion, I thought that I could also post my reaction.

I’m curious, though, how do you manage to “be properly clothed at all times” while in the shower? Or does God manage to avert his eyes while you bath? :rolleyes:

There are times when it is appropriate to be immodest and undignified. 😉
 
Here’s a thought for the OP:

If you are tempted to sleep in the buff b/c it looks so comfortable, like you said, maybe holding off on that and keeping your pjs would be a good thing for Lent? Come Easter, though-- all bets are off.

Do we shower with clothes on too? Are guardian angels are there too or maybe that’s why so many people die in the bathroom! 😉 Besides, I’m pretty sure that married people are allowed to be naked in bed (even though it’s for another reason) and their guardian angels are there. 🤷 Some people just plain can’t be comfy with clothes on. It’s rather constricting to some, I suppose. I can’t sleep with socks on at all! Like someone said, it can be a near occasion of sin for some but it can be just down right comfier for others.

I just don’t understand how sleeping nude can be an occasion for sin, especially if you are sleeping alone.

Sleeping in the nude can be more comfortable after being in restrictive clothing all day. It allows the body to breath.

Especially if one is alone, I see no problem with it, unless it would lead someone to commit self abuse (m-a-s-t-u-r-…). Just keep clothes of some sort close by in case you have to get out of the house in a hurry.

This would really be completely subjective. For some it may be sexual and for others it may be pure comfort. You might just be projecting. This whole coversation is silly and the question might be better addressed to a spiritual director because he would be the one to know where our weaknesses and temptations lie.

Dixie, I understand. But I think if you have full disclosure on my full character you will be better able to discern that I’m probably just a slob to be ignored. I also never clean the sink after I brush my teeth, when in college my bathtub only got cleaned when my roommate’s sister came to visit, eat brats that fall off the plate before I get inside.
 
Nudity does not equate with immorality. Note that God found fault with Adam and Eve when he found them CLOTHED, not when they were naked.

Swim suits are very immodest, no way to get around that. Not appropriate for Christians.

While I agree when it comes to bikinis, there are some swim suits that are in no way immodest, unless you think shorts are immodest as well.

ASK MY PRIEST IF I CAN SLEEP NUDE!!! I love my previous confessor (and current one, though the first one more) as my Father, but they’re both from Colombia and very good looking…I have an Italian look…that would be sick of me to do to either of them.😊 😊 😊

Funny you should mention it though, because…
…When my parents were married (Dad Catholic, Mom Baptist) she would always go around the house naked no matter what he said. He finally went to her pastor, told him the situation, and ended the complaint with “I just want her to put some clothes on!”

Actually, I like going in fully dressed.🙂 More exercise that way. Challenging, but very fun, in my opinion.

It is not a safe practice - and especially one that you should not be having young children practice unless a life guard is about. What a drowning nightmare.😦
