reads the thread and gets all sorts of ideas that are weirder than when I read the words “Fantasy Sheep” 😃

I think if it provides too much of a distraction to you, or too much unwanted attention or exposure for your wife, it is not a good idea.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with it. However, if you can’t handle it, you shouldn’t do it.

The OP wants to know what “can’t handle it” means. We need to be clear that simply being aroused on a night when intercourse is not in the cards does not fall in that category. If that were true, we’d have to get our spouse’s OK for intercourse before we could put ourselves in the position to experience REM sleep!

I don’t even know what would constitute “can’t handle it”. I suppose if you get into fights about whether or not you’re going to “follow though” that night or not, that would count. 🤷

You should be getting your information about Catholic teachings from Church-approved sources like Theology of the Body. If you take to heart what’s floated by lay people/amateur theologians (some of whom are misguided and some of whom I can only describe as psycho-sexually damaged) you’d “get the impression” that it’s Church teaching that exposed ankles are sinful and that healthy sexual arousal towards your wife is indistinguishable from self-centered lust.
👍 This is good, got TOB, JPII was my favorite Pope but my wife liked him even more once she learned he said it was my duty to bring her to orgasm. BTW, I can look at her ankles? How about her knees, or is that pushing it?
The wife is naked? Or are you naked? Both naked? You live in Minnesota? Are you sure you want to be naked? Pretty cold there, isn’t it? You don’t need to be chaste with your spouse especially if you are asleep
.
This is even better.
It is absolutely not chaste for you to sleep with my wife, naked or otherwise
But this is best.
:tiphat:

I never realized how much chastity can depend on English grammar. I’m still trying to figure out how you would diagram the title of this thread if it was part of a sentence.

If a man seriously can’t “handle” seeing his wife naked, then it sounds like there is either something seriously wrong with the marriage or with the man or both.

I thought it was an extremely bizarre question.

From what I understand of male physiology, most healthy young men have early morning erections even if they are unmarried and sleeping alone. Does the OP realize that this is normal?

So should men never sleep at all? (just kidding!)

Can’t handle it? Hmmm. How about if being in a state of constant arousal at bed time prevents sleep? Causes friction between husband and wife?

Seeking out arousal for arousal’s sake isn’t good, is it? That was my point.

Seriously? This is a real question?
Yup, it’s real. before I make a large purchase, I usually do a lot of research and read a bunch of reviews. I’ve learned that there are usually two major categories of contributors. Those who bought a widget and had it break the first day and those who bought the widget and a year later, it’s still working perfectly. It’s possible that the first guy had it replaced and didn’t bother to correct his first review and it also possible the second guy had his break the day after he posted. I either have to disregard the entire review process or try to understand who’s posting out of “knee jerk” reaction and who’s trying to give solid, honest advice. I also don’t go on the results or advice of one source and in the end, take all the questions raised in the reviews to an expert. Forty years ago when my wife and I were first trying to get pregnant and having trouble, I went to the Doctor. He handed me a sterile jar and said “let’s see if the gun is loaded and If you have trouble, get a magazine”. I didn’t need the magazine but afterwards wondered if this was masturbation so I asked my priest during confession. Back then he asked if I enjoyed it or did it for pleasure and I assured him there certainly wasn’t much pleasure involved and he said no problem. Now I find that the preferred Catholic way is to use a condom with holes. You see, even the experts can give advice and unknowingly be wrong.

Short answer…it’s real, but it’s not really what I wanted to know

Your understanding is correct…but you don’t have to be young:o

Unless the man is a sex addict or the wife has been seriously depriving him of any release, sleeping naked with your spouse shouldn’t be a cause for problems.

And so I said, either there is something wrong with the man, wrong with the marriage, or wrong with both.

It just isn’t normal for a married couple not to be able to sleep naked together.

To me, the answers are way more interesting, and in some cases entertaining then the question. What’s even more interesting is the large # of hits and posts I received here compared to much more important (to me) topic. Feel free to comment…

This thread is hilarious. 😛

I don’t think there is anything wrong with sleeping naked with your spouse. But maybe I still have a protestant mind set. 🤷

My husband and I both sleep naked. I hate all the pajamas getting in the way when I toss and turn. Been doing it for 10 years. Just because you sleep naked doesn’t mean you have to have sex. And if you do, so what, you’re married! 😛

Oh good!

I’m still coming to grips with the “all sexual contact must conclude with intercourse” business.
I’m not as far along as you. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the “all contact is sexual” thinking.
