Slothful thoughts a sin?

Do all sins work in the same way that lust does, where if you imagine doing something or dwell on it, it is a sin? For example, if you imagine giving up your aspirations and just live off the wild (meaning scavenging) because you feel like you don’t have the energy to keep having your hopes crushed, but you don’t actually do that, is it a sin? And would it be a mortal sin or a venial sin? (Note: You wouldn’t give up on God, you’d just be giving up on your earthly hopes.)
 
I’m not entirely sure what the answer is… but here would be my take on it.

“Slothful thoughts” are probably your body’s and mind’s ways of telling you you’re tired and need to slow down.

To imagine a life of reaping and sowing and gathering and enjoying nature, what God has given you, and these thoughts energize you and move you to action, maybe it’s your calling, if it is used to avoid doing something that you probably ought deal with, then it’s damaging… I’m not sure that’s sinful either.

I think it’s sinful if the intention is to take from others, harm others or abandon those people you’ve made vows to, then it’s an attack…

It becomes sinful if it’s interfering with your other obligations in life. If you spend so much time doing it that you aren’t taking care of the things that are important, then it’s indicating change is necessary.

Just my take on it… it’s up to you to decide really if it’s venial or mortal, or if in fact, a sin at all.

As a disciple of Christ, we are called to go forth and spread the Gospel. When mass is ended, we are sent to love and serve the Lord. Such solitary living in the wild would be contrary to this, being rather selfish, and a willing separation from the Body of Christ. As well, it amounts to a falling into despair. The final sin of Judas was that of despair - he doubted God’s forgiveness and promises. Maybe what you lack is patience and trust in God. He is in charge of every facet of your life, and sends you only that which is for your ultimate good - not that which you want right now.
