Fortunately, it appears that the culprits didn’t have a good idea of what they were doing. Then again, if the culprit had a good idea of what they were doing perhaps it wouldn’t have happened.

Either way, the phrase ‘good idea’ does not seem to fit into any part of this story.

Can anyone explain to me why the Civil Rights division of the DOJ is handling this and not say ATF? Confused as to what a bomb has to do with civil rights. 🤷

I guess we can gather how the MSM is going to spin this. They won’t even show how Santorum condemned it. It could have even been a plant by PP people to make the pro-lifers look bad.

I don’t know if it was done by a Planned Parenthood plant, but if it wasn’t, then whoever did it should not have done, not only because it puts peoples lives in danger but it creates sympathy for the Planned Parenthood organization.

Somehow, I find it extremely unlikely that PP is willing to take the time to carefully craft an explosive, that’s not too powerful, to damage one of its own building to make the Pro-Life movement look bad. What evidence would lead you to blame the victim (PP)?

From reading some reports:
  • The explosive wasn’t carefully-made - it sounds like someone put gasoline or sterno fuel into a plastic bottle.
  • The DOJ Civil Rights division is involved because of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) legislation, which makes it a crime to block, damage or deface clinic entrances. I suppose what links clinic entrances to Civil Rights is specifically the legislated right for a woman to procure an abortion.
So far as I can tell, there is no such federal law that considers the blocking of a church entrance a crime, or a violation of worshippers’ civil rights.
  • The FBI is getting involved - rightly so, it’s an explosive device. ATF tends to deal more with weapons trafficking though major enforcement is so often an alphabet soup of agencies.
  • So far, no other stories have mentioned Santorum’s condemnation of the bombing. If Santorum’s not even in the state today, there’s really no link. On the one hand, it’s good for the pro-life movement to condemn these sorts of things, on the other hand even unbiased media are reluctant to give a candidate free airspace.

Except in this way it appears Santorium is is trying to calm some over eager supporters.

I also condemn this incident. Terrorism is completely unacceptable no matter what the cause is and that is what this incident was: terrorism. That said, I would love it if Planned Parenthood closed down all of its abortion clinics but I would hope that they would do this as a result of them being defunded or something rather than a criminal act.

It’s the easiest thing to do. When you don’t like the victim, blame it on them! SMH.

I’m not saying they did do it themselves, but you are assuming that they’re the victims in the first place to argue against the position that they’re not victims. That’s not really a logically valid thing to do.

Who else would the victim be?

+100.

Glad nobody was hurt.

There was a “crime” at an abortion clinic in my former town (Aurora, Illinois). They claimed that a protestor broke in and destroyed equipment. The investigating policeman , no friend of prolifers by the way, told us the equipment destroyed was all insured and had already been replaced by new. He also stated that the abortionist claimed to have caught him and chased him out of the clinic but could not explain how the fleeing criminal got away without leaving tracks in the snow. Appearantly they did get their insurance money. Hard to believe some abortionists who just want to provide a needed service would ever lie. (A little tongue in cheek, here.)

That clinic is now closed. We all celebrated but eventually a much bigger one was built.

Insurance companies actively look for ways to deny coverage. Do you think the insurance company would have paid for more equipment if they thought the incident was a farce? Who’s best equipped to make such a determination?

The police.
