Is if to much to ask to be recognized even if its as “and others”? Oddly, alll the non-Catholics also somehow ended up being placed in a separate “overflow” area and served last.
Have it out with him.
He may not have realised what he did, but I do find it odd that he could have overlooked the huge efforts made by you and other non catholics by accident and not even give you guys a mention.
Whether you were overlooked by accident or design, he may be more sensitive in future if you front him about it now.
God bless you for your wonderful efforts. You are blessed to be such a good and active Christian, and the school community is blessed to have such wonderful supporters as you. If there was any segregation it was unacceptable, and I know it wouldn’t occur in any parish around my area. And thank you and all others, non-Catholic and Catholic alike for your efforts, which speak for themselves, and will be acknowlegged for all eternity, as what we do for others we do for Christ, as He tells us in Matthew 25 verses 31-46, as we all know!
Great response.
This might sound uncharitable, but it has to be said.
A big problem we are dealing with in modern society is oversensitivity and hyper-analysis.
I think it is very uncalled for to name call anyone, especially a priest, who has given up his life in order for shepherding others to salvation.
I dont think theres anything oversensitive in feeling left out and unnamed at a fund raising event for the church, when everyone else was named and thanked.
If noone was, fair enough, but to only thank catholics when the majority of the effort was made by non catholics is unacceptable, and not in the least bit sensitive.
Priests are human too - and have all the human failings of the next man - they need to be called on it.
Being a man of God does not, in my opinion, give you a licence to be ignorant.
Are they due respect - of course - but theres nothing disrespectful in telling a priest or anyone else their behavior was unacceptable.
There is of course a respectful and disrespectful way to do this, and calling him a clod would not be the way to go about it, I dont think.
I take the point though people in the main dont do things to be thanked, and as you said get themselves in the newpaper.
They do things because its the right thing to do.
But if youre goin go thank people, then thank everyone, or noone.
