So-called ‘rainbow ban’ at Ontario Catholic school angers homosexual activists

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, June 16, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board signaled last week that they would be open to considering the use of the rainbow, an ancient Judeo-Christian symbol, for school “anti-homophobia” events.

Using the rainbow flag “certainly wouldn’t be outside the realm that is something acceptable to ask,” Bruce Campbell, the board’s spokesman, told the Toronto Star.

The comments came as the board faced heat over a supposed ban on the use of the rainbow, after a rainbow flag was barred from use at Dufferin-Peel’s St. Joseph Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga on June 3rd.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), which has become infamous for its support of the homosexual agenda, has openly welcomed the use of the rainbow to promote the homosexual cause. “I don’t believe it should make people feel uncomfortable,” James Ryan, OECTA’s president, told the Toronto Star.

But Alan Yoshioka, a former homosexual activist who is now devoutly Catholic and married to a woman, argued in an op-ed for LifeSiteNews on Wednesday that the gay lobby’s use of the rainbow is obviously offensive to Catholics because it uses an ancient sign of God’s covenant with His people to promote “ideologies hostile to Catholic doctrine.”

No catholic school should fly such a flag. These students need to be educated on what the churches teaches on immoral acts and stop teaching them to be little politically correct liberals.
 
It’s been a slow but steady decline in the OECTA for years. 😦
 
Such a flag should not be flown by any Christian organization, must less a Catholic Christian one. That said, there are organizations and churches out there that claim to be Christian but yet also claim to embrace homosexuality. I don’t see how the two are compatible. To me, it’s impossible.
 
My Father was a teacher in Catholic elementary schools for over 40 years. He would rather have lost his job than teach young children about homosexuality, except to teach official Church teaching and that only as much as was necessary and no more. I feel sorry for kids today, I’m glad my own kids were in the last generation in Quebec to get a Catholic education even though it wasn’t that great in high school. But I ask myself how was our generation so asleep to let this happen? But more important what can we do now and be effective?

Because we are the WORST generation as opposed to our parents being the BEST generation.The sixties mindset simply destroyed the ethics and morality of a generation and we are reaping the whirlwind.

Speak for yourself when you say “we”. I’m part of Generation X. The first generation that will be stuck cleaning up after the “ME” generation. Several generations after that will be dealing with it for decades to come.

Why would I include you in MY generation?I was not addressing you nor was I using the all encompassing “we”.No need to take offense as none was meant.I was addressing a poster who was lamenting our generation and I was obliquely referencing a poster who said he was “proud”:rolleyes: of his and my generation.Read a little closer before coming down on me please.As to the rest of your post I agree completely.I am thoroughly ashamed of my generation except for the music.

I think you will find that each generation is left to deal with the problems created by the previous generation. We’re still dealing with the effects of the Reformation and that was 4 to 5 centuries ago. And believe it or not, your kids will be cleaning up after you.
