By living the faith. Somehow I donā€™t think that I will provide an answer that is going to satisfy you. Perhaps you would take time reading St Francis. He seemed to be able to defend the faith quite well. Even to the point of escaping death at the hands of the muslims.

What else can I say?

In a section dedicated to ā€œNon-Catholic Religionsā€ I think oneā€™s perspective matters a great deal. As a Catholic, I firmly believe the Holy Spirit has worked Godā€™s will in the changes and the sameness of our faith and ritual. I cleave to the the ā€œOne Holy Catholic and Apostolic Churchā€ and the Apostolic Succession passed down from Peter to Benedict XVI. I do not expect nor anticipate that a non-Catholic would share the same perspective.

And so tweetymom and everyone else knows. I believe all Christians are a part of the body of Christ. How much a part is up to us each individually.

I do enter these discussions and express my view, I do not however take every opportunity to challenge every single issue for the sake of division, enticing dissensions or for the sake of claiming somone else to be wrong. Thatā€™s why I take time to articulate my thoughts and use sources to support my view.

When someone just takes ā€˜pot shotsā€™ at a faith, without explaining themself or offering any type of sources, they are not sharing the Gospel the way scriptures or that they themselves profess it should be done. For example, to post little ā€˜snippetsā€™ and then when asked to explain a view and they respond that they do not want to discuss doctrines, what are they doing? Itā€™s like, oh I want to slap down anything that faith says, but Iā€™m not going to explain my view or why I do it.

I can understand why someone would question a personā€™s sincerity when they claim one thing and oppose it every opportunity they have. There are a lot ā€˜antiā€™sā€™ that come here thinking that claiming one thing and stating another is an embarrassment to something they themselves dislike immensely.

Itā€™s not for me to decide where a person belongs. Personally, Iā€™d rather have a person with mistakes in the Church, than not in Church at all. At least theyā€™re being exposed to the truth on a regular basis.

hi prodical, thank you for your kind response. i agree with you, that we need people who have mistakes about the Church in the Church rather than outside of it. i was very fortunate to be properly Chaticized by a very devout priest. i dont think all Catholics are so fortunate. alot of the mistakes and misinformation a Catholic recieves can be laid at the feet of poor teaching on the part of a very small minority of priest and bishops. unfortunatly this does happen some times. i get more where your coming from, and i do the same you do. but we do have Catholics of a more liberal mindset, (im not one.)šŸ˜ƒ and its not to hard a thing to be a little more tact with them, after seeing the baptist board im trying to take on a kinder tone. although with some i fail misarablyā€¦Peace to you God bless you and yours.šŸ™‚

Tweetymon, of course the CC is not mentioned anywhere by Jesus, neither are the letters of St Paul, the Gospels, the Trinity and a hundred other things that we all believe so that is not a good basis to determine your faith.

In terms of what you call yourself it seems strange to me that you dissent so much from Catholicism but still call yourself a Catholic. Itā€™s a bit like me calling myself a vegitarian but saying that its ok to enjoy a good steak, some chicken and a ham sandwich.

I am genuinely interested in what sacraments you believe in that makes you think you are a Catholic - i.e. what is the bare minimum that you think you need to believe to be a Catholic as opposed to any other variety of Christian?

Look you are obvisually a conservative Catholic which is fine with me. I do not care, really. there ar also moderate Catholics and some Liberal Catholics. they are still Catholics no matter what you choose to call them. I am a mixture of both moderate and Liberal. But if that bothers you. well trust me there are a lot, more than you think of us out there. I go to a very progressive Catholic Church and I fit in with 90%. I The 7 Sacraments?

Well put. I dare say some that went to the ā€˜rightā€™ church wonā€™t make it to Heaven because they believed in a church and not in the Christ of the church.

My point was our perspective doesnā€™t make truth; nor does belief.
