We need Christ. That is the core of all Christian faith. šŸ™‚
and just how would you teach Christ to those who dont believe?

"Let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the
Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, was preached
by the Apostles, and was preserved by the Fathers. On this was the Church founded;
and if anyone departs from this, he neither is nor any longer ought to be called a Christian.
St. Athanasius, Letter to Serapion of Thmuis, 359 A.D…

As St Francis said…and I paraphrase…"preach the Gospel…and if you have to then use words. šŸ™‚

and just how would do this without defending the Faith?
By living the faith. Somehow I don’t think that I will provide an answer that is going to satisfy you. Perhaps you would take time reading St Francis. He seemed to be able to defend the faith quite well. Even to the point of escaping death at the hands of the muslims.

What else can I say?

well, when you said preaching the Gospel, isnt what the Church does?

Does one’s perspective matter in this case?

The question is ā€˜what do you see as the Church?’.
In a section dedicated to ā€œNon-Catholic Religionsā€ I think one’s perspective matters a great deal. As a Catholic, I firmly believe the Holy Spirit has worked God’s will in the changes and the sameness of our faith and ritual. I cleave to the the ā€œOne Holy Catholic and Apostolic Churchā€ and the Apostolic Succession passed down from Peter to Benedict XVI. I do not expect nor anticipate that a non-Catholic would share the same perspective.

I’m no young’un myself. šŸ˜›

And so tweetymom and everyone else knows. I believe all Christians are a part of the body of Christ. How much a part is up to us each individually.

I do enter these discussions and express my view, I do not however take every opportunity to challenge every single issue for the sake of division, enticing dissensions or for the sake of claiming somone else to be wrong. That’s why I take time to articulate my thoughts and use sources to support my view.

When someone just takes ā€˜pot shots’ at a faith, without explaining themself or offering any type of sources, they are not sharing the Gospel the way scriptures or that they themselves profess it should be done. For example, to post little ā€˜snippets’ and then when asked to explain a view and they respond that they do not want to discuss doctrines, what are they doing? It’s like, oh I want to slap down anything that faith says, but I’m not going to explain my view or why I do it.

I can understand why someone would question a person’s sincerity when they claim one thing and oppose it every opportunity they have. There are a lot ā€˜anti’s’ that come here thinking that claiming one thing and stating another is an embarrassment to something they themselves dislike immensely.

It’s not for me to decide where a person belongs. Personally, I’d rather have a person with mistakes in the Church, than not in Church at all. At least they’re being exposed to the truth on a regular basis.
hi prodical, thank you for your kind response. i agree with you, that we need people who have mistakes about the Church in the Church rather than outside of it. i was very fortunate to be properly Chaticized by a very devout priest. i dont think all Catholics are so fortunate. alot of the mistakes and misinformation a Catholic recieves can be laid at the feet of poor teaching on the part of a very small minority of priest and bishops. unfortunatly this does happen some times. i get more where your coming from, and i do the same you do. but we do have Catholics of a more liberal mindset, (im not one.)😃 and its not to hard a thing to be a little more tact with them, after seeing the baptist board im trying to take on a kinder tone. although with some i fail misarably…Peace to you God bless you and yours.šŸ™‚

I have already stated what I do not believe in at least a hundred times. Most of them are not scriptual and the answer I get is because Jesus gave the CC the authority to make these rules. But what you donot see or choose to not see is that i do not believe that the CC is mentioned by Jesus anywhere. I already know all the verses etc. that you will post. I do not agree that Jesus said the CC was in charge of anything. You choose to believe He meant the CC and I do not. 🤷
Tweetymon, of course the CC is not mentioned anywhere by Jesus, neither are the letters of St Paul, the Gospels, the Trinity and a hundred other things that we all believe so that is not a good basis to determine your faith.

In terms of what you call yourself it seems strange to me that you dissent so much from Catholicism but still call yourself a Catholic. It’s a bit like me calling myself a vegitarian but saying that its ok to enjoy a good steak, some chicken and a ham sandwich.

I am genuinely interested in what sacraments you believe in that makes you think you are a Catholic - i.e. what is the bare minimum that you think you need to believe to be a Catholic as opposed to any other variety of Christian?

Look you are obvisually a conservative Catholic which is fine with me. I do not care, really. there ar also moderate Catholics and some Liberal Catholics. they are still Catholics no matter what you choose to call them. I am a mixture of both moderate and Liberal. But if that bothers you. well trust me there are a lot, more than you think of us out there. I go to a very progressive Catholic Church and I fit in with 90%. I The 7 Sacraments?

Might I ask how you are so certain that you have interpreted the Bible 100% correctly? Are you infallible?

Where have I said I interpret 100% correctly? Please copy and paste the post you refer to.

How do you know the CC is 100% accurate in its interpretation? By the CC telling you???

Well put. I dare say some that went to the ā€˜right’ church won’t make it to Heaven because they believed in a church and not in the Christ of the church.

How is MIL? Some people do believe in the church rather than Christ.

My point was our perspective doesn’t make truth; nor does belief.

tweetymom, will share what beliefs of Catholicism that you agree with?

While I don’t consider myself conservative, I may be viewed that way by others. 🤷

Beautiful words of wisdom. Thank you for sharing the quote

Living the Gospel preaches louder than just words coming from an empty life. Can we expect anyone to accept Jesus if we don’t live as He would want us to live? Oh, dear Lord, forgive me; I fall so short so often. Please forgive me; please change me; please make my life a message of Your love.

Saw her this late afternoon and evening; not good; hanging on by a thread. Pray she’d hear the sweet voice of Jesus.
Thank you for the info, been praying God Bless you and your family.
