You’re not going to like this, but it was NOT directed at you at all. I was referring to the Protestants who tell Catholics we are wrong on our interpertation, because they are right. These same people will argue against the Church being infallible, yet to say we’re wrong and they are right is assuming they have the correct interpretation which makes their interpretation infallible.

Remember you’re wearing the same shoe we are. You tell us we’re wrong when you say you’re (the CC) is correct.

These same people (at least the ones I know of including myself) say NO church or person is infallible.

the word symbolism is not there. you insert this word in it.
in fact Jesus did explain to the disciples. He said: My Body is real food and my Blood is True Drink." does anyone see the word symbolism here?
So when your eyes causes you to sin you poke it out? When your hand cause you to sin you cut it off?

Since you find no qualms about interpreting scriptures for yourself, please provide your interpretation of the scriptures below and take time to explain how they might be applicable to the Church.

**1Co 1:10 I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Php 2:2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.**

Rom 16:17 I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.
Does it say Catholic Church?

All Protestants say they have the way to salvation
If you mean a foolproof path or guarantee, NO THEY DON’T ALL SAY THIS.
…but some say others are wrong. If it seems extreme, understand this is our eternal being we’re discussing. So, is there anyway to narrow it down to those who are correct and those who are not correct?
This is best discussed with family, pastor, via reflection, etc. You have done this and chosen Catholicism. Go for it! Go to work, serve others, serve God, feed your mind and soul, find love. Live a blessed life.

If there is none infallible, how do we trust our salvation to just any of them then? You realize, as I do, there are Protestant Churches that say others are wrong. How do we know which is correct and which is incorrect? How can we even narrow it down? Is it all just an odds game, only the lucky will choose the right ones? What if there is more to it than just the essentials?

You haven’t commented on the fact you tell all others that believe differently that the CC they are wrong just as you are accusing protestants of doing.

I pay NO attention to protestants that say they are correct and others are wrong. (Of course there are core beliefs that we all believe are correct, correct?)

I trust my salvation to Jesus the Savior. I trust the Holy Spirit will show us and trust He will keep us from such error that will harm us. ONLY God is infallible.

Are you in a crisis of faith or worry over your soul? If so, please see your pastor or church mentors. Seriously. They know best how to care for you and answer these questions.

Then we are to each depend on Christ for only our own salvation? You realize this sounds like we should avoid all others, lest we be led astray? Or are we saying St. Peter was wrong about people wresting scriptures to their own destruction?

Seriously, why are we all here discussing this issues? It seems there are alot of people saying the Catholic Church is wrong. Well here it is, a Catholic asking for that assurance. I don’t want to go to hell. I only want to serve Him as He wants us to serve Him. I don’t want to be a part of what’s wrong. How can I know without a doubt that I’m walking the right path? It’s too confusing to accept ‘core’ beliefs. How do I know each and every faith is following all the core beliefs?

I trust in Jesus for my salvation. The CC maybe right but not for me. Like I said if it is for you then follow that belief.

Is that the assurance? ‘Maybe’? You saw what I said about discerning spirits. Doesn’t the Bible speak about being led astray by other spirits?

It depends on what you call a core belief…the Code of Canon Law describes the sacrament of the Eucharist as the “most august” of the sacraments. Should I not try to inform you of what the Church teaches and believes to be true about the most august of the sacraments?

What you don’t want is to conform to the teaching because you don’t understand it. Well guess what, neither do I. But my faith tells me and so does scripture that the Eucharist is the body blood soul and divinity of Christ. If you don’t want to come to this truth, whether understood or not, then go somewhere that it is perceived to be a symbol, or a remembrance of Him.

That sure doesn’t sound like the most august of things that I would be willing to die for. Many early Christians did just that by saying the same AMEN you use here, are you ready to die for a symbol? Or did the martyrs get it that wrong?

My last statement was not charitable, so I removed it. Been a long day and I just finished paying bills, not much left over…lol

Sorry.

Yes it does There is no maybe when it comes to my salvation, I know for a fact it is real.s and that is why I study the Bible for myself and trust the Holy Spirit.

So then I’ve got no chance, because we see where we’ve gotten when we’ve compared scriptures. You’ve told me more than once I was reading them wrong.

Do believe that Jesus saved your soul? I believe that all Scripture was written for all of us not just the elect of the Church. You are reading them the way the CC has taught you to.

God Bless, and I love you with the love of the Lord.

Two threads at the same position on the same topic…
Steven Ray compares the Catholic faith to a 3 legged stool; Church, Scriptures and Tradition. Now, I’m confronting three people who have been chipping away at two of the legs of my stool, but no one can give me the assurance I’m seeking in finding real favor with God? Yes, I’m bouncing back and forth, looking for that answer. This is the ultimate reality. There are no second chances. For folks who were so sure, I’m not receiving the same assurance anymore. Before it was, ‘core’ beliefs, now it’s ‘there is no assurance’? Another tells me they’re sure because the Holy Spirit tells them so, but the Holy Spirit hasn’t told them how to get the same assurance for another person? Larkin, no offense, but I don’t know what you believe, or if you believe.

What was the point of coming to a Catholic forum, if we’re ‘ok’ to begin with? What’s the point of picking apart a faith, if it’s ‘ok’ to begin with?

Where are the real answers? You folks can see that I read the Bible, but my interpretations are wrong, but come on Prod. stick with it? Why would an honest Christian tell me I’m wrong, then not try to tell me the straightway?

I know the forum rules and that you can’t tell me what I need, but you sure as heck could tell me where to find the assurance to the truth. Now, it seems you’re telling me I was partially right with Paul’s instructions to work out my salvation with fear and trembling???

Again, seek counsel in your parish with your fellow parishioners. I feel that you have misread the defenses of Protestantism that have been applied here, and you are here in these non-Catholic threads in the mistaken purpose of shoring up your faith. There are better threads for that here! I have looked at them. Go to one of those and see what advice people give you.

They died for their faith in Christ.
