So I started watching the Passion

I may be in a minority, but I feel like not shying away from the violence in the scourging scenes of this film is like a witness to the torments of our Lord. After all, He actually suffered through it all without a murmur. Who am I, poor pitiful wretch that I am, to cover my eyes and exclaim delicately that I can’t handle the violence? The least I can do is watch and meditate on His suffering, which He underwent so readily for my sake.

Every Christian should watch this movie at least once. It opens one’s eyes to the importance of religion. It is the reality of Christianity.
When the film was first released years ago, I recall reading an article about the profound effect it was having on audiences. One man in the Netherlands walked into his local police station and confessed to the long-ago murder of his girlfriend. It seems he had killed her back in the 1970’s I think it was, and though he had been suspected at the time, there was no evidence to link him to her death and he was never charged. Years later he went and saw the Passion, and he was thunderstruck with the realisation that there are only two sides in the universe, and he was on the wrong one, which prompted his confession. That’s pretty dang powerful.
