“Seeing that he was a goodly child, she hid him for three months”
What is the opposite of a “goodly” child? What if Moses hadn’t been “goodly”?
“…who adopted him as her son and called him Moses”
I wonder what his real parents named him? How in the world did she explain to
Moses that he would go live here with other parents now, and have a new name?
Was there a set age back then that a child was weaned?
It seems like he was raised always knowing he was adopted, not like the movie.
They sure made a long movie, compared to the amount of scripture they had to
work with…
“you who seek God, may your hearts revive!
For the LORD hears the poor” –
Even the wealthiest person is poor, compared to heaven!
The psalm seems to assume that those who seek the Lord have heavy
hearts that need to be revived…
“if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes”
—Then why didn’t He do mighty deeds there instead?
“For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom,
it would have remained until this day.”
—Then why didn’t He do mighty deeds there? He could have done any mighty
deeds He wanted to, even if He wasn’t born yet…
“Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld”
Jesus pronounces sentence on Capernaum, where He spent most of His time.
He never says anyone else is lost, except for Judas…
Today is the day of Kateri Tekakwitha & Camillus de lellis
So what struck you about todays readings (or saints)? :bible1::twocents:
