I won’t be tuning into YouTube anymore. I totally disagree with this… and had no idea those annoying ads were making people money.It’s true!

From my own experience on youtube and having the option to make money, I know that the ads displayed are what makes one money, and you have to approve this.I won’t be tuning into YouTube anymore. I totally disagree with this… and had no idea those annoying ads were making people money.
I currently have a video for the 7th Cavalry song, “Garry Owen”. Multiple times I have been asked by YT if I want to submit this for making money. I haven’t. No ads appear. No ads appear on any PB video I’ve seen.
Now, PB does have multiple links to his own site, which has a PayPal donate button.
In this regard, it could lead people to donating to him via his actual page, but nowhere on YT do I see this.
Further, he is also an actual pastor of a Baptist Church, and it seems this is part of a typical Baptist means of reaching people. Gone are the days of knocking on doors: YouTube, baby!
Regardless of PB and others like him, and whether or not they’re somewhat on the mark or not, how can we then relate this to Scripture?

I agree with you completely. One wonders how many times this same individual - in the “privacy” of his own pulpit and not YouTube - has in fact railed against “idolatrous” Catholics and the fact that they keep “recrucifying” Christ and keep Him on the cross, a;; things I have heard Baptists claim.First of all, he teaches a heretical doctrine of once saved, always saved known as OSAS, a form of antinomianism.
Secondly, it is very strange that a Protestant and in this particular case a Baptist pastor would display a cross with the figure of Jesus on it. I don’t know of any Protestant church that has this type of Cross. Protestants focus on the resurrection of Christ symbolized by the empty cross and to display a figure of Christ would be considered idolatry especially in the Baptist Church which considers the Catholic Church to be the whore of Babylon.
Thirdly, if you have ever been in deliverance ministry, the one thing you don’t do is to mock, dare or make fun of Satan. In Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”d] Trust me on this.
So, yes I believe it was staged.

I don’t think that’s a totally fair position to take… after all, youtube has to make a profit somewhere, or else they would fail to stay in business. Working in the IT field, I can tell you that youtube’s operating costs are astronomical. In fact, youtube is a negative profit company, meaning that google (their owners) absorbs losses every quarter to provide the video hosting service. I have no problem, therefore, with Google seeking to recoup SOME of their losses with advertising revenue.I won’t be tuning into YouTube anymore. I totally disagree with this… and had no idea those annoying ads were making people money.
The way it works is that when a person gets an advertising contract, youtube splits the advertising profits with that person. This helps youtube to stay in operation, and provides an impetus for producers of quality videos to continue to produce quality viewing material… and often times these productions require QUITE a bit of technical training and hours of video editing in order to produce… so the contribution from someone like Philly D in terms of man hours is quite substantial.
I think also that the bottom line is that youtube is a masterpiece. Twenty years ago, people would have MARVELED at the capability on display. The fact that it comes with a few ads here and there would hardly have crossed the minds of people as an impact against the amazing capability on display. Don’t take technology for granted! What youtube does is a marvel of human ingenuity!

I would urge you to consider it. Your videos take up a large amount of bandwidth and server capability on the part of youtube. That’s why youtube seeks to generate ad revenue from these popular videos. While there is certainly an impetus for YOU to earn money, youtube rather generously lets users decide what they want to do… with the understanding that if you turn down the money, youtube loses money in order to host your videos as well…From my own experience on youtube and having the option to make money, I know that the ads displayed are what makes one money, and you have to approve this.

So basically, while you’re denying yourself, and doing it with a motivation which is probably in support of users, don’t forget that so doing hurts the very service provider who is basically GIVING people free video hosting and streaming capability.
Actually, this is his first video that youtube would consider contacting him for advertising revenues… he simply has flopped on all of his other videos in terms of popularity. It doesn’t surprise me that in the ten days since it was posted he has not completed the contract process with google/youtube…No ads appear on any PB video I’ve seen.

Despite the offer from YT, I don’t see how I can meet their requirements in good faith. n top of that, I have a whopping 8 videos, most of which are below 5 minutes and just iPhone junk quality.
Garry Owen has ~55k views, and I started receiving the offers at around… 5-10k?
The other videos I have only have views because I posted them to a site pertinent to the video, or just random browsing by other users.

Given my own experience, and Paul Begley’s other video numbers (of which, many are easily above my meager 55k on one), I must ask from where you draw this conclusion?
One of his videos, a year old, almost has 200k views. His top 39 videos are all above the same number I started receiving offers at for my one. Again, where are you drawing this conclusion?
