I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

Continuing prayers!

Dear Loving and Compassionate God,
Giver of all gifts,
we pray especially today for the mercy and love You give us.
Open our hearts and minds to You.
Give us the grace to accept your mercy.
As we live each day,
we pray for those less fortunate,
especially those who are hurting,
and whose wounds need to be healed.
Help us become involved in ways that show them how deeply we care.
Give us the personal courage to listen to their concerns
and help them find the solutions to which they are entitled.
as Your children and our brothers and sisters.

Amen.

This piece of Scripture was a great comfort for me when I had health concerns several years ago. May it do the same for you, whatever your concerns may be.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:6-7 NASB

Dear Everyone,

Thank you so much for your prayers. I do read all of them and can’t tell you how much they mean to me. I lurk on here, but haven’t posted in a long time. Since October, all I’ve received was grim news from my doctors. Nothing good or hopeful at all to share…

Since the last time I posted, my cancer has spread through my body, and I’ve also developed blood clots in my lungs and in my limbs. I’ve seen numerous doctors who all agree that I have an incurable cancer that doesn’t respond to chemotherapy. I haven’t qualified for any clinical trials because my cancer is “unusual”. I was also hospitalized a couple of times (one time for multiple pulmonary embolisms caused by the cancer).

I’m on strictly palliative care now, since I’ve been told that there’s no more that the doctors can do for me, besides manage my pain until I succumb to the cancer. I’ve tried alternative treatments (cannabis oil, which I still do), but can’t see any improvement.

I take a handful of opioid painkiller tablets every day (along with 3 different laxatives daily because the opioids cause constipation). I will be seeing my pain management doctor soon, to increase my dosage or switch to a stronger painkiller. My oncologist says that once my pain becomes unmanageable with pills, I’ll be ready to go into hospice care. The pain is paralyzing at times, and I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I’ve oftentimes begged God to just take me now, and relieve me of this pain. Sadly, my faith has faltered, although I still pray daily. What has kept me going is the love and support of my family and friends, as well as the prayers of the wonderful people of CAF (like you). You’ve all helped keep my faith alive.

Katherine and Lormar, your PMs actually came at a good time, because I just saw my oncologist the day before yesterday. For literally the first time in months, he actually had some hopeful news to share with me. He mentioned that a new immunotherapy drug was approved just last month, and I MIGHT be able to benefit from it. However, I’ll need to get genetic testing done to see if I’m a candidate for this new drug. I’m currently waiting for a call back from the genetic counselor. I can’t get my hopes up, since I’m not even sure if I’m eligible for this drug. If I do qualify, I don’t even know if it will work. I’ll have to wait and see. But, at least I didn’t get bad news (like what I always expect now). My doctor is doing something other than just waiting for me to die…

I do have mixed feelings if I do qualify to try this drug. All this time, I’ve believed that it wasn’t God’s will for me to recover, and I’ve come to accept it. During all these months of praying for healing, I always heard God’s answer as a loud and clear “NO”. I accepted His will. I was resigned to the fact that I was going to die from this, and made peace with it. Now, I’m not so sure. I so wish that God could make His plans clear to me! It’s really frustrating. I admit, sadly, that I’ve often felt angry and annoyed with God.

Anyway, this is the heads-up about what is going on with me. I thank you so much for you prayers. I’ve been praying for you, and other CAF members. I hope you are well. I’ll write again to update you if my situation changes.
Blessings to you all.

Anthony’s Mom,
Thank you so much for your latest update.
While I do not post daily, I pray for you and for your family each day as I see your prayer thread in my email.
I don’t know if you are familiar with po18guy who posts on CAF but he writes of his struggles with cancer and his work to learn about trials for his illness. He seems to know a lot about how to create opportunities which I might never think of.
I think he would be a tremendous source of information and prayer for you and am copying his info from his CAF link below. May God bless you.

Thank you for the update, Anthony(name removed by moderator). I think most people would say it’s normal and human to feel angry and annoyed with God right now. Just keep praying and tell Him when you are having a hard time speaking to Him. I know it’s hard, but keep offering your suffering and pain with Jesus’s on the cross and when it gets too hard and you feel alone, ask Him to yoke Himself with you and ease some of the burden. Continuing to pray for you and your family always…

PRAYER OF TRUST TO THE SACRED HEART

Jesus, I believe in Your personal love for one so sinful and worthless as I am.

I believe that Your love for me is from all eternity and that it is as tender as a mother’s love.

I believe that You have lovingly and wisely planned everything that shall ever happen to me.

I will never seek pleasure forbidden by You and will never lose heart in my efforts to be good.

I will accept the crosses of life as I accept its joys, with a grateful heart, and I will always pray, “Your holy will be done in all things.”

I will not be worried or anxious about anything, for I know You will take care of me.

However weak or sinful I may be, I will never doubt Your mercy.

In all my temptations…

In all my weakness…

In all my sorrows…

In every discouragement…

In all my undertakings…

In life and in death…

Heart of love, I put all my trust in you; for I fear all things from my own weakness, but I hope for all things from Your goodness.
Amen.

Prayer in Time of Suffering

Behold me, my beloved Jesus,
weighed down under the burden of my trials and sufferings,
I cast myself at Your feet,
that You may renew my strength and my courage,
while I rest here in Your Presence.
Permit me to lay down my cross in Your Sacred Heart,
for only Your infinite goodness can sustain me;
only Your love can help me bear my cross;
only Your powerful hand can lighten its weight.
O Divine King, Jesus,
whose heart is so compassionate to the afflicted,
I wish to live in You;
suffer and die in You.
During my life be to me my model and my support;
At the hour of my death,
be my hope and my refuge.

Amen.
