whore of babylon is Jerusalem for her rejection of the Messiah.
Oh yeah, Stray? Welcome to the Forums!!!Other than the fact that the whore of Babylon may have been around for a few milennia before today (where do you guys get this kind of stuff?!?) I gotta tell you I’m offended by your signature.
The homeless live like that because of “the free food”?!?
I certainly do NOT expect you to fully understand my thinking however this is a personal understanding as I know it to be.I gotta tell you I’m offended by your signature.

I think that you are right and given what would happen to a christian if he got caught with such a letter with the emperor name on it, it certaintly would make good sense that his name was incoded. I think also the original numbers were not 666 but maybe 662, although I do not recall where I have read this at., but I also think that the whore of babylon was refering to Jerusalem and not the mark of the beast, as catholic scholars have pointed out, Jerusalem was often liken to a whore in the old covenant when Our God was angry with her. This makes for some great research…try the catholic encyclopedia at www.newadvent.org first. Happy research and remember those who seek shall find.I read this in Karl Keating’s book, Catholcism and Fundamentalism, that Martin Luther’s name comes out as 666. Interesting huh? But I think it was Nero’s name at the time John wrote it.
Yes, a brother in Christ who thinks he can lay around and let others provide food for him is not truly a member of the Body. They should be admonished. But, as for feeding the homeless, I’d rather look to the words of our Savior, as in Matthew 25:I certainly do NOT expect you to fully understand my thinking however this is a personal understanding as I know it to be.
(I probably have more experience in this than most on this forum)
Look in 2Th 3:8 - 3:15 which says:
- 3:8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
- 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
- 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
- 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
- 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
- 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
- 3:14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
- 3:15 Yet count [him] not as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother.
Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'
Yes, it can hurt the person, but sometimes it can help the person. Ultimately it’s their decision on what to do with the gift, just as it’s our decision on what to do with Christ’s gifts.Back a bit before my time the government used to provide work for those in need. I think it was called WPA. This work effort was used to put in side walks.
Back then it was an embarrassment to have work from the government.
During the Johnson Presidency welfare became an option for people.
In the beginning it was also an embarrassment.
However; this created a loss of self respect, dignity, and honor in being a provider of family needs.
The end result of this was a decline in family values.
Look at where the typical recipient of those services have gone with their family standards and structure.
In more cases than not - they have dwindled and/or declined to an unrepairable state of being.
Sometimes kindness is inadvertently hurtful.
Amen.It is obvious from the book of revelation that the whore of babylon was ancient rome which collapsed under the weight of immorality and moral decadence.
All the mischief makers who try to estapolate the book of revelation to satisfy their hatred against the church of christ , the catholic church are wrong
