And what if you wake up hungry at 2AM? Is the fast considered complete since it’s technically another day?

If I wake up hungry at 2 am, I’ll pray a prayer, have some bread and water, and go back to sleep.

It’s actually another day.

… and my wife was just showing me all the restaurant gift cards we haven’t used yet. Gee thanks honey 🙂

👋👋

This guy, but I kind of cheated and had a little extra dinner, so now I am hungry and I feel guilty.

In Church law, a day is midnight to midnight. So you can break the Ash Wednesday fast at 12:01 a.m. Thursday your time, if you wish.

LOL, Yeah I smashed a fair amount of Pizza today so I would not get too hungry. Then later my spouse brought some lovely pies home from Walmart. Man they look tempting!! Get thee behind me Satan!!! :rotfl:

We don’t usually eat too much meat but had a pizza last night and today kept craving it. Technically I don’t have to fast anymore but try to. But I found myself thinking of trying to snack on things. Then The devil is in the details as you’re not to be proud of fasting. Glad today is almost over here on MST.

It was hard for me yesterday, as I carefully watch what I eat all the time but normally get through by eating a little thing every couple of hours. If I don’t, I get shaky and feel odd.

Yesterday, I stuck to the “no snacks between meals” rule and was extremely hungry by the time I went to bed. I also didn’t eat anything sweet all day. It didn’t help that Wednesday is the only day of the week I have to get up super-early!

I went to Mass at noon, and the priest said “it seems a bit miserable to just have soup and bread for lunch, but in Sudan many people will be having nothing and nothing today”. I kept those wise words in mind.

However, I’m 59 this year. 🙂

Wow, so last year of required fast. Nice job 👍

I made it through w/o snacking. Last year got bad information and heard it was a total fast. I starved that day, all day.

I did pretty well yesterday with fasting.

First mini meal was a piece of toast, (cold and too dark) with a coffee. Second mini meal was a little bun, plain and some tea. I had a tea mid afternoon, English breakfast with just a bit of milk, no sweetener.

Then main meal was a can of soup, three slices of deli cheddar, and a piece of plain wheat bread.

I’m so glad you are taking good care of yourself. 😃

Thank you for understanding. I had many people at my own parish tell me that I should fast like everyone else and if I keep on injecting insulin that my body would not make any on its own. I told them it had not made any since 1974. I was diagnosed the same day that President Nixon resigned the Presidency. I went to the Cathedral for ashes because I got tired of listening to the people in my parish but all three of the priest in my parish are understanding and so is the Rector of the Cathedral. I remember telling my father that I wanted to go home from the hospital because the TV’s there had President Nixon on every stupid channel and my father explained to me that our TV at home would be showing the same thing back then we only had four channels to choose from at home.

My husband’s family is full of diabetics. Taking care of it is a matter of life and death. I know it can be hard to endure the comments of others, but God knows what you are going through and He knows your heart. God bless.
