And what if you wake up hungry at 2AM? Is the fast considered complete since it’s technically another day?
If I wake up hungry at 2 am, I’ll pray a prayer, have some bread and water, and go back to sleep. And what if you wake up hungry at 2AM? Is the fast considered complete since it’s technically another day?
LOL, Yeah I smashed a fair amount of Pizza today so I would not get too hungry. Then later my spouse brought some lovely pies home from Walmart. Man they look tempting!! Get thee behind me Satan!!!
This guy, but I kind of cheated and had a little extra dinner, so now I am hungry and I feel guilty.
Wow, so last year of required fast. Nice jobIt was hard for me yesterday, as I carefully watch what I eat all the time but normally get through by eating a little thing every couple of hours. If I don’t, I get shaky and feel odd.
Yesterday, I stuck to the “no snacks between meals” rule and was extremely hungry by the time I went to bed. I also didn’t eat anything sweet all day. It didn’t help that Wednesday is the only day of the week I have to get up super-early!
I went to Mass at noon, and the priest said “it seems a bit miserable to just have soup and bread for lunch, but in Sudan many people will be having nothing and nothing today”. I kept those wise words in mind.
However, I’m 59 this year.![]()

The priest told me to take care of myself and that if he caught me trying to fast that he would be very upset.
Thank you for understanding. I had many people at my own parish tell me that I should fast like everyone else and if I keep on injecting insulin that my body would not make any on its own. I told them it had not made any since 1974. I was diagnosed the same day that President Nixon resigned the Presidency. I went to the Cathedral for ashes because I got tired of listening to the people in my parish but all three of the priest in my parish are understanding and so is the Rector of the Cathedral. I remember telling my father that I wanted to go home from the hospital because the TV’s there had President Nixon on every stupid channel and my father explained to me that our TV at home would be showing the same thing back then we only had four channels to choose from at home.I’m so glad you are taking good care of yourself.![]()
My husband’s family is full of diabetics. Taking care of it is a matter of life and death. I know it can be hard to endure the comments of others, but God knows what you are going through and He knows your heart. God bless.Thank you for understanding.
