I can’t stand when they make the winner explain the scores when the judges are the ones who need to explain. It isn’t the skaters fault the judges are corrupt. Most skaters handle it with class, unless they are Surya Bonaly or Tonya Harding…
Amen, there were small issues throughout, Hey the American snowboarder turned Russian won Gold today, he switched from the USA team to Russia because they fund his training better.

I thought amateur athletics wasn’t about the money?

Please support your assertions that the judges at Sochi are corrupt.
I wasn’t saying the judges in Sochi are corrupt per se, though it appears at least one is. Obviously none of us have any evidence to support and it is being correct but skating has a long history of shady dealings with official scores. Recall not link ago the French judge was removed over the Sale controversy 12 years ago.

If you are asking fans to prove anything in sports, you are being silly. I can’t even prove Ben Johnson used steroids in 1988. None of us can see any of the evidence.

If you want to believe the IOC or Olympic skating is free of corruption, go ahead. Have fun with that.

I think anyone who ever competed at anything always knows that playing away and falling victim to a home job in close competition is always a reality. Idea being, leave no doubt as to who won. Easier said than done when the competition is so close.

I didnt even watch, and couldn’t care less. The notion that broadly, figure skating has not had some judging corruption is ignoring the actual cases. Again, I have no proof Ben Johnson cheated either. Too those who say he is guilty I say “have YOU seen the evidence?”

But since you distilled what I said into a sound bite that makes you feel good about your position, by all means think whatever you want. I stopped caring what random posters from other continents believed about my beliefs a few days after birth.

Since the US has more medals than any country all time. By a lot. Which US medals do you think were rigged? It has to go both ways. If the IOC is corrupt and the judges are corrupt then which times do you think the USA athletes did not deserve the medals. 1980 Hockey? Dream Team basketball?

Sorry bud. I would love to spend a Saturday citing examples if IOC corruption , but that is what Google is for. And please be real. we’re talking about sports where the winners are separated from the losers by hundredths of a second. Not games involving the Dream Team where the closest games are 20 to 40 points.

Like I said, there are documented examples of IOC officials being on the take, and examples where it was obvious to everyone watching something was amiss. If you want to believe otherwise and ignore documented cases like Marie Reine Le Gounge is up to you.

Now whether or not this hurts the medal count is not what is being asserted, and frankly less poignant than the impact it has on an individual who has spent their life for this moment.

This is what the Russian Gold medal skater said…

t.foxsports.msn.com/olympics/russias-sotnikova-i-won-gold-because-i-was-better

“I skated very well and my technical score is higher than Yuna’s. My jumps were more complicated, especially in the second part of the cascade, rotations for the fourth level. That means I was better in technique. I skated very well.”

Got that?

In other words…She said; “Stop whining and practice harder” 👍
The issue is with the judging system which is done anonymously, as well as who the judges on the panel are/were:
Scandal in Sochi: Nearly two million call for investigation into 17-year-old Russian skater’s surprise win in front of home judges
Russian Adelina Sotnikova beat out favorite South Korean Yuna Kim to the figure skating gold medal
Many questioned the win and argued Kim skated a winning program
A petition demanding an investigation into the judging decision has been signed almost 1.8million times
Critics say the judging panel is made up mostly of Eastern Bloc states and the scoring is anonymous
One judge has previously been caught trying to fix an event at the 1998 Winter Olympics
Another is married to the head of the Russian Figure Skating Federation
Another Russian, Yulia Lipnitskaya, fell multiple times but beat American Ashley Wagner, who did not fall

American snowboarder wins gold medals for Russia
The American Dream exists for people like the 27-year-old who crossed the finish line, won his second gold medal of the Sochi Games and celebrated like he couldn’t believe it. Because, truth is, he couldn’t. When the United States failed him – when it didn’t give him the one thing it promises, opportunity – Vic Wild went and found his American Dream in Russia.

I thought the Olympics were about showcasing your country’s athletes.

I personally think it should be investigated if there might be the possibility of corruption, i.e., there’s nothing to lose if there isn’t, but a lot if there is. It’s how Sale and Pelletier eventually won their gold.

It is not uncommon for athletes and coaches to go to places where there is more opportunity for them. I suppose that the American team might be kicking themselves in the butt for letting the gold medal boarder get away, but it is not just the athlete involved. It is the coaching, and the training and a whole host of factors that lead to a gold medal win.
There have been athletes from Africa and Jamaica that have done the same for the Canadian team. It reminds me of Ben Johnson, who won the gold for Canada, and the whole country beamed with pride at the feat of their Canadian. Then when it was discovered that he was doping, he was looked upon as a Jamaican again.
Vic Wild made the right choice, because he has the gold medal now. Hopefully he has retained American citizenship too, for there is more to America than Olympic gold for sure.

For a guy who couldn’t care less you sure do care about it enough to accuse without evidence. It is poor form. I hate it when I am competing against someone and they lose and then they blame the sun, officiating, their shoe, etc. It is not good sportsmanship. If I lose I lose. If the ref missed a call that is fine, I’ve had many refs miss calls in my favor as well.

Like I said. If you are crying foul then you better be prepared to realize that the US has a TON more medals than anyone so statistically they probably have more illegitimate medals according to your accusations.

But you have better stuff to do on a Saturday and couldn’t care less right?

The fact that you want to actually argue about something as well documented and publicly known as Olympics scandals and corruption is laughable. But since you asked, here you go:
