I went to youtube to listen to that and the sixth video down is one from The Hunt For Red October. It’s how I know the Russian national anthem. Or the Soviet version anyway.

Does anyone know if Yuna Kim blessed herself before her program?
Apparently, she always does.
I didn’t see her do it before her preformance at the skating gala. I can’t remember if it was shown in the prime time broadcast or the one shown at about midnight. She skated to a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”. The singer was female so it strengthened the impression it was a message she wanted to give to the viewers. It was lovely.

Sochi!

Wonderful games! So many awesome stories, themes and moments. Honestly some of my favorite winter games in a while.

One thing for certain. Russia, for all the western media bias, did excellent. And this should go a long way in helping dispel some prejudices they have been fighting in the world!

The female in question was singer, Avril Lavigne (she’s Canadian), and having watched her skate to John Lennon’s “Imagine” (which is a song I really cannot abide), I realized she was gypped of a gold medal. Pity!!!

Russia is number 1 in both the gold medal count and the total medal count. Congratulations to Russia and to President Vladimir Putin!

I will stick to congratulating the Russian athletes and/or Russians, i.e., I don’t think it’s necessary for me to congratulate President Vladimir Putin.

She looked at her ring during her freeskate. I think that was her rosary ring. I can’t tell if it’s gold or silver. The one she wore back in 2010 was silver. I hope she didn’t get rid of it. It’s nice to see people keep up the faith.

Even with all the negative propaganda against the winter Olympics, with all the propaganda against Putin, with all the frustation for lack of terror attacks during the Olympics, the Russians athletics and all other participants gave us an exellent and spectacular performances.

Bravo Russia! Bravo Sochi. Putin 2016!

👍

I really loved the display of their culture. Most Western nations don’t have unique culture anymore.

I always get sad when the Olympics, particularly the Winter Games, come to a close. Ah well spring training starts next week, I hear.

I agree the Russians did a fine job hosting the games. There was a bittersweet quality to this Olympics because a number of athletes I’ve known from previous games have come to compete as favorites but have been knocked off their pedestal for the first and last time: Shaun White, Shani Davis, Yunha Kim. They are older and slower – and I am too. Time to make way for a new generation.

I’m glad the Olympics happened without incident, I was praying every day for a safe and peaceful Winter Olympics.

Western media sure is going the extra mile to try and make the Russians look bad. Hope these games are a tremendous success for Russia.
Have you ever read Pravda.ru in English? Our media pales in comparison to the nationalistic bias of the Russian press.
