I am new to these forums and find them a little confusing so help me a little. First is LJPgoodwin unequivically Pro CHoice? As a Pro choice advocate at diocesan, parish and political levels I have found the term Social justice and the advocates that use it to some time hide behind the term as being Catholic. Helping the poor is definitely a Catholic and human responsibility. I also serve on two boards which feed and help the poor and homeless. However justifying an organization that promotes and supports abortion is always wrong. Your council to the person on getting scholed in theology followed by a referene to the most UN-Catholic University in the system confused me. Associating any defense of Saul Alinsky with Catholic righteousness is amazing. Help me here.
Abortion is wrong anytime anywhere and for any reason. Calling good evil and evil good is sinful.

I hope that is a typo – you did mean to write “Pro-Life advocate”, right?
I attended a mtg just last night where one of these smaller groups (under the Gamaliel Foundation) presented. Because the presenters objected, I was not allowed to videotape or even make an audio recording for my friends who could not attend. I guess they know me as an adversary (or, using their word, “detractor”). The reason: they did not want me to misrepresent them using any of the recording! (But it’s okay for them to misrepresent Christianity…sigh.) Fortunately, there were a fair number of “detractors” there and we asked some good questions after the 2 presenters stated their goals and mission, one of which is Universal Utopian Health Care - 7 points were made, which, if even possible, would not likely be done well by a govt system or one-payer system.
Also, they are trying to distance themselves from the Alinsky legacy. The one presenter called him “…that Satanist, Alinsky…” (in sarcasm, but I thought he meant it). They cannot deny the roots of their movement, which is radicalism and leftist politics. Couching the movement with Christian ideals (most of which Catholics could agree with), and peppering their speeches & literature with scripture quotes does nothing to hide the fact they are all support the Democrats’ Universal Health Care plans. Oh, they will get a few priests on board, and probably some religious sisters, too, which helps confuse things for the unaware or poorly catechized.
I think you will find it interesting that many (if not all) the leaders in these groups are either ex-Catholics or belong to Call to Action (a large dissenter organization). This is true in my state, anyway. They need to be questioned on that.
A wise priest told me:
Shared enthusiasm motivated by an obvious affinity with a notorious dissenting personality would lead any sincere Christian to deep introspection regarding motive and credibility.
In this case, I think replacing “personality” with “organization” fits the situation quite well.
What I would like to see is the bishops come out and state that these organizations may not operate on parish property – no meetings, no literature, no signs, no
NOTHING!
Until that happens, we laity are on our own. Be informed, be willing to speak up and PM me for more info. There is a flier you may like to use as a model for disseminating information. Explaining just how anti-Catholic these groups’ ideas are can be difficult, esp. if the person you are talking to does not know the faith, or their faith is weak. Indoctrination through the culture of " I’m okay, you’re okay" is indemic and widespread.
God bless,
Mimi
PS
WHERE is EWTN on this?? They are really not doing good reporting on the vast network of Organizing and the insidious infiltration of our parishes!

The tiny bit reported on The World Over show last wk only mentioned 7 groups the CCHD is still supporting! There are many more than that; heck, there are 7 groups just in my state!
