Kujo–I noticed that you found that quote in your sig really scandalous.
It came from a member of this message board; a Catholic.
Protestants are such arrogant, condescending, smug little twerps when it comes to the Bible.
Not at all. “True” Christians will be humble and not pointing to themselves.
But this great conceit on which they’ve built their rebellion, what they see as a rock-solid and noble foundation, was nowhere taught by Jesus or the apostles.
Matt 21:42; Mark 12:10; Luke 20:17; Acts 4:11 Ephesians 2:19 - 3:1; 1 Peter 2:6-7; John 14: 6; 8:12; 8:18; 8:23; 8:58; 10:7; 10:9; 10:11, 14; 11:25; 12:26; 12:32 (Jesus does this for Himself); 15:1.
THAT’S our foundation! Also: John 17 (whole chapter).
A good movie for you to rent (or buy) is “Luther”. In Martin Luther’s eyes is how I, personally, see the remnants of the RCC.
If you’ve founded your “church” on a collection of books (inspired as they are)
NOT a collection of books. Those SAME “books” are inside the covers of the Catholic “bible”. Watch what you say. “Inspired” by the Holy Spirit and the Gospels are the words of actuall witnesses who, FIRST-HAND, heard and SAW Jesus.
The Bible that I own does not get dusty at all.
Heh. And right now the newest Protestant fad is “home churching.”
Acts 2
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[h] daily those who were being saved.
We already see Christians who deny you need to do ANYTHING to be a Christian.
Those “christians” are NOT Christians at all.
(I have a buddy who “goes to church” in his boxers at his girlfriend’s place every Sunday morning by merely flipping on a televangelist. Well, he doesn’t go there in his boxers–he’s usually there because he slept with her the night before.)
I would show him in the Word the error of his ways, invite him to my church and leave him. I would not go back.
basing your beliefs on the Bible alone is the blueprint for division and discord.
Actually, the traditions of men is what divides and discords. Go back to Jesus, our Cornerstone.
