Don’t be too fast to say that. YOU might not, but there are many in your religion that DO. Some also wear medals of saint-this and saint-that. They say it’s for “protection”. So many exits from the straight and narrow. Don’t go to them.
You can take this opportunity to show the fruits of the Lord in your life.
Though I agree with some of the teachings of your religion, there’s some that I don’t agree with. We can go round and around on this (the thread proves it), but I cannot stray from it studying the Bible and the actions of the people in it.
It’s like saying “What would Jesus do?” and then looking it up in the Bible to see what He did. Some things that may seem cloudy to you are crystal clear to me. Of course we both know that abortion is not in the Bible, but we KNOW that the Bible says “thou shalt not kill” and that includes the living babies inside the wombs.
As far as fruits.
There’s been miracles performed and lives changed. Dozens and dozens of people accepting Jesus as their Savior. The hungry are fed, the naked are clothed and the homeless have shelter from the winter. Some of them went on to get employment, pay for a roof over their head and be productive in life.
(Where I go, we do NOT believe in “once saved, always saved”. I pray for those people.)
In my own family: my children are “angels” compared to my siblings and I when we was their age.
Not one is on drugs or alcohol. Not one is using the internet for evil (we have spyware that my children don’t know of.). Not one of my children (all teens) are sexually active. Not one of them swear.
All of them are active at our church. One teaches children. Another helps in the media ministry. Three more are active in the youth group and are part of the prayer team.
Not one bad report from their schools or from other people. All I hear is how they are blessings to other people and to the church.
We’re all born again and are looking forward to sitting next to Jesus on His Throne. (Rev 3:21)

Two alarms just went off: The “Myth Alarm,” and the “Cliche Alarm.”
One of the most persistant anti-Catholic chimeras is the idea of the Catholic “Mariolator.” No anti-Catholic actually knows one of these people, but they know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who does. Or they “just know” some Catholics do. They see a statue or a medal and then just assume it’s worship. But, nobody can produce a single Mary-worshipper.
Why? BECAUSE THEY DON’T EXIST. And even if you were to find someone who actually did, he’d be in direct opposition to what the Church teaches.
So, drop the “you have Mary-worshippers in your religion” cliche. It’s lazy and dishonest. If we have Mariolators, please produce an e-mail address or phone number so we can send them a copy of the Bible and Catechism.

My ex-girlfriend of recent memory had a family like that. Everyone was perfect. Everyone smiled all the time, was nice, did good works, etc.
That was just the surface, however. Beneath that was every kind of self-serving vice–pride, jealousy–one even had a porn problem.
I wouldn’t start pre-judging yourself yet. Life is short, but it’s long enough to mangle things.

To avoid any misunderstanding… and if you read the entire post… you cannot come to Christ on your terms, and be part of the Catholic Church. So, yes, if you were open and told the bishop or parish priest what you believed and that your intent was to continue to believe that… and then asked to come into the Church with that baggage, they would have to say no.

There really is a thing called authority - It doesnt matter what anyone on this board thinks - they do not hold any authority. You need to see a priest who can advise you, but the ultimate “confirmation” will come from the Bishop of the Diocese that you are in.

I understand the basic idea you are trying to get across. I could argue with various ways you chose to express the idea though. (“baggage”, “on my terms”, etc.) This part is especially strange: "your intent was to continue to believe that"
What kind of person doesn’t intend to continue to believe in the future what he believes in the present? “I believe in Bigfoot, but I intend not to someday.” weird.

For a start each of the Apostles. And certainly Saul did not continue to believe as Paul what he believed before God knocked him down.
Additionally, a change or developement in the understanding of one’s beliefs is quite different from changing your beliefs,
Those in the Catholic Church enjoy being part of a Church that is alive and growing and will eventually bring us to the fullness of Truth. (cause it ain’t all in Scripture
)Those outside the Church, IMHO, too often have to “change churches” to find what suits them.
We should all strive to attain a “More of Him and less of me” holiness. But that is hindered outside the Catholic Church because, again IMHO, the foundations are built on Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, and Sola Meo
